B2910 front wheel snapped off!

i thought I would be able to just slide the bearing, gear bevel, collar set etc, off, but that does not seem to be the case. Can someone give me some advice on how to get this apart?

Use the bucket to raise the front end, drive a wooden wedge in between the axle and the frame on the unbroken side, raise bucket and drive tractor out of the woods.

Excellent suggestion.

I've done that on a 70Hp tractor which also had a loader and an airblast sprayer behind, worked well.

I had the shop manual for my B8200; went with the tractor when I sold it. Thing that bugged me, was that for the price, the motor was not part of the manual.... The D950 manual was extra.

Yes, shop manuals are pretty expensive.

I got the bevel gear/axle back today. They installed the new axle and seal and cleaned it up for $38. I thought that was reasonable. I cleand off the gear housing and applied a bead of Permatex, RTV-Gray to the grove and around the bolt holes. I put some loc-tite on the bolts and reassembled it. 24 hours for the RTV to cure and I will put in the gear oil attach the wheel and....Keep your fingers crossed ...

first and second pict are the repaired axle. third is gear case before removing old RTV, fourth is assembled.

Yeah, I met a somewhat similar fate with my B2400. Trying to work out a stump with my loader and tooth bar - snapped my front axle in half! That **** tooth bar has made me do things with my tractor that I probably shouldn't....

Just to be clear, The axle cost $164, but the cleaning and install of axle and seal cost $38. Which, again, I thought was good.

It should be stronger than the original which is why they updated them.

So does that mean they will stand behind a sub-standard product?

Again, with what we pay for this equipment, we should not be receiving equipment better suited for a kids sandbox.
