   / A backup camera for $50!!!!!!!!!!! #51
You guys are costing me money!
I just ordered the 7" and camera and plan to use it mainly for use with my rear mount snow blower this winter.
I am cabbed with front and rear glass so snow wont be a problem.
I'll use the 2nd circuit for bucket mount camera for when I use the forks.
Anxious to receive and install the system.

Are you sure you bought AgCam 9" with two "AgCam" cameras for 699.00 because that setup goes for 1589.00?
Freedom Farms - AgCam Products Store

I think 94BILLITT camera set up is the way to go for most people. For 50.00 and not have to permanently mount it, Is a plus.
One can see for very little money if they like and will use a monitor camera setup.
I think he did a very good job not even drilling a hole.
I'm embarrassed to say how much I have spent. My post is to show the contrast of what I had to spend verses what he spent for basically the same outcome.
I'm sure there is a trade off. But if you bought the 50.00 setup and wanted something better what did you loose, a trip to McDonalds for the family?

In the sunlight with all the glass in the cab the Agcam 7 inch was not that good. I even sent it back to Agcam, they sent me a brand new one with all the accessories . But the monitor was the same outcome. Washed out and lack of color compared to what I have now.
That is how I have a new one in the box with unused accessories. If someone wants it this it what it normally sells for.
Agcam 7" Quad Monitor Kit Dmac 7MQ | eBay

The 9 inch monitor that you have is of better quality. I just could not fit it where I wanted it.
I think Agcam has hands down the best camera. I wanted a bullet proof camera for up front.

I ended up buying this one below which is all aluminum housing and rugged. The brightness 1,000nit my agcam was 400nit. I do not have or need a visor around the monitor. I have no doubt my monitor is a better quality then a 30.00 dollar one. And better then the AgCam line of monitors. But do you need that exspensive kind of monitor? I have no regrets at all, but many others I don't think would want to spend that much.

I suggest anyone wanting to get a camera setup is to go the route like BILLITTs setup first.

If you like it , you're all set. If you don't like it at all, then you didn't even drill a hole. If you like the idea and want to upgrade you can with little or no real financial loss.
So 94BILLITT set up is the way to go to try one out. Or keep for good.

For me I like the monitor I have now in spite the money spent. I hate the money the AgCam camera costs but I wanted the best camera for the bucket cam.
I did not use a AgCam camera for the rear.

I wouldn't be embarrassed about what you spent. After LCD TVs first legged down in price and offered "HD" (720i) I purchased two 37" TVs at $1350 a throw, which was a huge deal at the time. Nowadays I could buy three or four 37" TVs for the same amount and they'd all be way, way better. Same way with cameras. The first time I mounted a camera to a motorcycle I had over $1,000 into it. Nowadays a GoPro Hero 3+ offers over fours times the resolution at 40% of the price.

BTW, the projects in your links are cool!

Thank you, glad you like the links. I appreciate your comment. I also like the neat job you are doing soundproofing.
I soundproofed my B3030 it made a big difference.

I hear what you're saying I bought my Sony 40 inch for 2600.00 back in the day. Now they are a lot less, but you have it backwards in this case. The monitor I bought with the specs it has, is not like the 28.00 monitor or for that matter like most of the cheap little monitors out there today.

There are cheap monitors today and expensive monitors today, And I bought one of the less expensive, Of the expensive ones. My resolution is not as high as I could have gone, but the monitor being so far from the operators eyes I wanted to be able to see the picture detail as a bigger size.
Sometimes like on your home computer the highest resolution the smaller the picture fonts etc.

When I said I was embarrassed to say what I spent on mine, it was not because I wished I bought a cheap one. I set out to get the clearest brightest monitor with the most detailed picture that would fit my tractor.

I want to be able to see a ladybug on a blade of grass, that my front bucket blade is just starting to bend over.:D
Maybe someday I'll do a video picking up a quarter or something with the front bucket to show the quality of the camera and monitor.

My bucket Cam is not for everyday bucket work, it's for picking up things you can't see and do it the first shot without damage to the turf or picking up things you don't want. Its hard to explain what you can see, that you can't see. Like scooping up the wood from the tree I cut down just to be able to see in real time what you're getting in the bucket and what you're not, It's fun to use, I like it.
At least that is how I use it. I don't need to look at the monitor for just moving piles of dirt.

Here are some monitors that CabCam, AgCam, Amazon China monitors can't compare. But you pay for it. It's not for everyone.
I looked long and hard for monitors when I was upgrading my AgCam monitor. That monitor on Amazon for 28.00 is about the same as one in a 500.00 backup camera kit.
Don't be fooled these monitors are in a different league. Spec for Spec

I hear you. On Amazon Prime, which is about as far as I looked (non-Amazon resellers no longer exist) I had a hard time finding any weather-proof HD 12v cameras and when I looked at monitor resolutions in seven inch size, they were all 800xwhatever. I cheaped out since my tractor will be left unguarded at times and I didn't want my local meth-junkie to get away with anything of real value after damaging the cab to get in (I use the same methodology at my lake place—you broke in to what? steal my bedding and the CRT TV from 1990?).

Well Roger, Thanks for posting this info. I got mine installed today. I used 2 cameras (1 front because I can't see the tips of my forks from inside the cab and 1 rear). Here's some pics of mine.

My camera and monitor arrived today. It was only a few days ago that I placed the order. Installation was quick and easy and it works fine. I only began mowing at 8:00 this evening, but there was a good 45 minutes of decent light. When it got dark and I kicked the LED's on the picture had a little washout because of the bright lights. Here's a pic with normal but fading daylight. I already managed to use the camera to back the deck in between the mailbox post and an adjacent utility pole.

Picture looks good chim, very acceptable.
I'm glad you guys are finally seeing the value of a backup camera. Thanks to BUILLTT showing there is another way with this thread. A low cost way, Still hard to believe the 28.00 price of that monitor. If you have a cab you're missing out if you don have a camera.
Are those lines adjustable? I see they taper is there a way to adjust them?

I have an older backup camera not made anymore and not the best quality for this day and time, but one thing I like and why I bought it for my b3030 back in 2008 It's a 2002 camera and I found it again on ebay for my 3240 last year. What I like about it is the ability to adjust the lines to the width of my tires and project the lines out eight feet, blue line 8ft, yellow 6ft, red line 2ft. but you can adjust anyway you want. There is a chart you layout behind the tractor to adjust the lines. Or you can just mark out the distance.

When the line is the width of the tires it gives you a look of where your tires will be between two poles or something. As shown in this video the width of my cut in the snow you can also see it your going off track.

I gave up a little bit of quality on the camera but I really like the use of the lines. The rear camera also has 4 adjustable views, One looks just straight down to your tires as if your hooking up an implement, other, a wide angle without lines and the view you see here with and without the lines.
I made a video this past winter to show the value of using the backup camera versus your mirrors when your in the snow and rain.
Its best to watch in FULL screen. at 1080p
