I've tried the 7254 and the hydro was extremely noisy and it didn't seem to have enough power. I'm new to working a small farm and have about 41 acres. My wife likes to have about 2 - 3 acres mowed around the house and 4 acres are woods. The other approx 34 acres has Multifloral rose growing around. the pastures have had paths cut through them but not a complete cutting in over 5 years. I was thinking about the 7264 with a 60 mmm for the yard, a 48 brush hog for the fields, a 48 rotor tiller, a 48 grating blade, a 610 fel, and 612 backhoe for drains and lite stump removal. I've been quoted around 24 k for a 7254 with all of those toys. What would be a good price for the 7264 or 7284 and where would be a good place near western, Pa to buy it. Would this do the job, or would it be better to buy something like the GT 3235 for the yard work and a larger tractor for the rest? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
I've got a 7264 with a loader and hoe.
The hydro is rather noisy on mine (specifically when cold) but I always wear ear protection when running any equipment.
I really like the machine and have had no problems to date.
I think you could probably handle a 60" hog on the back if you weren't going to wade into super "heavy" stuff.
I've noticed no lack of power for the chores I do , heavy power use being a 4" wood chipper and a 62" rear snow blower.
The power exception would be digging out stumps. I've dug some almost half as big as the tractor(root ball and stump) and couldn't lift them . I had to drag them around.
'Not sure where you live but I'm sure there are some Dlrs. around . Do a dealer search on the Cub site.
For the money , I'd buy another one.

I've got a 7275 with a Hydro and it is fine. I also have a 72" MMM on it and it will cut thru 8-10 " grass like a breeze. I know where there is a 7300 with FEL and backhoe bracket with 235 hours for $12.5 near Albany N.Y. I have tried this machine and it is super clean. I didn't buy it because it is a standard shift. I will be out of town from tonight thru Memorial Day. If you want the number it will have to wait till then.

I have been shopping around for tractors and like the 7284 (I have been told that they only make that one now). I especially like the 28hp Cat engine. I have heard that you have to service the Cat engine only at Cat - that they won't warranty it anywhere else. Also, the FL and BH don't seem to be very powerful. I was considering moving up to the 7532 TLB - it is much more powerful and seems like the implements match the size of the tractor. I have been looking at the orange BX, and the BH for the 7284 has the same ratings. A little underpowered. I think that the cub tractors are good otherwise. Cub should consider making the 7284 more powerful. Any comments that might help me make the decision would be most appreciated. I have stumps and dirt to move - less interested in mowing - I have a mower already.

I have the 7284 and the motor has alot of power. This is a high torque motor and has more torque at 28hp than the competitors. Thats CAT's trademark High torque. I haven't been able to bog down this motor yet as long as it is operated in the green rpm area 3000 rpm.

Filb,
I don't have any experience with the Cat engine.
Mine is the 26hp Daihatsu. So far it's been fine.
The power has not been an issue but I'm not in a race to do the "chores" either.
I've dug out some 24" white oak stumps with mine with a root ball that I had to drag to the "final" resting place.
As far as the loader , I've picked and moved 650 lb. loads from the back of my truck with no problem.
I don't know your needs on digging but if you've got a lot rocks, huge stumps and not much time ; you may want to look to a bigger machine.
I did look at all the major compacts and chose the Cub.
No regrets.

Would the 7284 be considered a small-chassis CUT or a sub-CUT?
