I don't know the PTO hp of his tractor but my L2501HST had 19 PTO horses. The general rule for a rotary cutter is 5 PTO hp for each foot of cutter. I think that's a pretty close estimate for a minimum. Your quote about "barely creeping or starting and stopping" described my situation exactly.

My L2501HST would pull a 5' bush hog through waist deep heavy weeds and grass too. It just wouldn't pull and cut at the same time, which was pretty important to me.

I looked at the MF1835's too. They are sweet tractors but I'm disappointed that they don't use Perkins engines any more. Perkins are the Rolls Royce of diesel engines as far as I'm concerned.

I've never had a dealer tell me they won't work on my tractor because I didn't buy it from them but I did have one to tell me "We work on our customers' tractors first, others last." I have never had a car dealer tell me that.

Big boats and wakes are no problem. There are only 3 owners of the actual lake and we have agreed to no gasoline powered boats in the lake, only electric trolling motors or paddle power.

Question: The 16" guides that ride up and down on the posts - How much clearance should they have? 4" x 4" posts are 3 1/2" square. How big should the guides be? I'm sure they would need to be big enough not to bind.
