Does anyone else ride bicycles?

I had hand me downs and garage sale bikes until I was around 13/14 when my Uncle bought me a new Peugeot.
I loved that bike and still miss it, it got stolen in front of the school the next year.

I had a banana seat bike in MA, that I tried riding down the hill once, coaster brakes did not help.
Ended up with the bike hung up on a rail and me face down in the road.

I looked over the edge, about 50 feet down and saw a deer skeleton on the rocks.

Either one would be a good ride, although the bike only needs a bit of grease or oil and the occasional adjustment.
On the other hand, it's very unlikely that the curvy blonde would go flat... except if she were inflatable.

We have been biking for 45 years. I started for the exercise, then wife joined in. Then started touring. Carried all our camping gear on racks. Coast of California, Oregon and Washington coast and up to Crater lake, then to Medford OR on a tandem bike. Across Wi with the kids (ages 11 and 8), east coast from RI to Maine. Last one with kids was across country from Florence OR, to Misoula, Idaho then down the Rockies to Pueblo CO then across to VA. Wife and I then did the Great Divide down through the Rockies from Roosville, Montana to Antelope Wells, NM with our 2 dogs riding trailers or running along side. This trip was like the videos posted in post 36. Since then I have ridden less than the wife. Her last trip with another lady this summer was from St Louis, MO to Omaha, NE for a church lady's conference. When the kids were still living at home, we counted 18 bikes in the stable. I think we are down to 9 for just the wife and I now. Jon

That is a lot of riding!

I enjoy two wheels, but not the pedal bikes that much.

I am envious however. Such close contact over so many places. How did you ever plan your night time sleep?

The 2 cross country trips we were following Adventure Cycling (from Missoula, ID) maps.The west east were basically on paved roads following their old 76 route. The maps had suggestions for camping, city parks and pools, campgrounds, churchs, etc. We even asked at fire stations, "Just don't sleep in front of doors". And a monastary. We always knew what ind of distance we were capable of, and was watching the maps far in advance. Both cross country trips about 3 months time. For west to east, we pulled kids out of school a week early and sent back 2 weeks late. Got home Thursday before Labor Day. They didn't want to see any of their friends or call them. We were very close after that trip and didn't want to reengage with others.

I also forgot one other major trip for us in 2017. Wife and I packed the bikes, drove them to DC and parked car at my daughters house. Then wife and I took our loaded bikes on the train from DC to Pittsburgh, PA. Arrived after midnight, had motel reservations. Up the next morning to ride the Allegehany (sp?) trail then onto the Chesapeak and Ohio canal trail system tow paths. Daughter, son in law and their 2 kids joined us for the final couples days back to their house. Youngest in a trailer pulled by daddy, mom had the older on on a trail a bike setup.

Have a friend that’s on vacation in Amsterdam, population 1,000,000 registered bicycles 2,000,000 they built an underground parking lot for bicycles that cost 54,000,000 it will hold 8,000 bicycles. He even sent a few pictures.

The High Trestle Trail in Iowa is a great ride. There is another trail in the same area northwest of Des Moines. All paved and very nice on old railroad right of way. The nighttime picture of the bridge isn’t mine but off the internet, it was raining the night we were going to visit it.
