T273 Glow Plug Timer?

The timer relays are typically specified to the Tractor manufacturer by the engine manufacturer. Searching for your engine with the manufacturer of the tractor will frequently give you a generic version of the correct part.

I found the one for my T233 by searching for the “Mitsubishi S3L”, with “timer relay”. Which gave me a link to a site with the manuals and the page for the glow plug electrical diagram. Which gave the Mitsubishi part numbers for the timer, and the relay.

Searching for Mitsubishi, and their part number, gave me pages of links on Google in the $25 range. Those were generic Chiwanese. The NGK version was $30. Genuine Mitsubishi $45.

I need to order a copy of the engine manual for my tractor references. The TYM manual is a bit vague, and gives TYM part numbers. Which cost more, and are harder to find. I figure that replacing one part with the Mitsubishi part number versus the TYM number will cover the cost.

Jigs... I did download the Mitsubishi SL service manual. It is far better than what TYM offers. Sadly, the timer controller part number offers a different part than what is on the TYM. The pin layout is different. I found the timer at a Mahindra dealer but he wants almost as much to ship it via USPS as for the overpriced part so I will keep searching.

Jigs, I know this is an old post but - can you tell me what part number you used to get your Mitsubisi s3l timer? My 273 should be the exact same as what you used, I looked it up on google and see bunches of timers but not the exact same as my dead one. Mine old one has 6 prongs, those listed show only 5? It will be "much" simpler to order what you used! Please give me a number. Thanks, Greg

I'm in California for the next month or so. I'll try to find the receipt or look at the relay when I get home. Most of the TYM part numbers are just the manufacturers number with a few characters added on the front.

Jigs, I've got the Tym part number - what I'm wanting to get from you is the Mitsubishi SL3 number that you found so I can try to find one on Amazon - I'm wanting to find a source that is other than Tym!
You posted that you found a substitute Glow Plug relay and used it. That's the part number that I want. I've found relays on Amazon but they don't "look" like they will fit/work. You say you did; what was "that" number that you used please! I'm not in a rush, so whenever you get home and find time to look it up is fine.

Thanks, I found that one but it's different from mine. I've got 6 tabs (3 in a row ---) above each other. That timer "may" work but I'm not messing with my wires!

I've found replacement relays - but at about $85.00 each and I was just looking for a cheaper route. Guess it's not out there anywhere!

I've got my replacement (spare) coming in the mail. I just like to have a spare on hand cause you never know when it might fail again. Even here in Ca I find my tractor starts much better, faster, & easier the first start of the day when glow is used so I use it almost all the time. It lasted about 16 years so not to bad!

Thanks again for looking yours up. You must have a slightly different style than my 273. Greg
