I don't know if I mentioned this or not, but it seems like my neighbor has a match to your truck. Same color, extended cab, etc.

I think it replaced her husband's old Sonoma, but he passed a year or two ago. She drives it in the winter, and of course, when she has truck stuff to do.

It's perfect for her, lol, I don't think she could climb into a Super Duty.

Ours is 6ft but the 4 door version that most people have is 5.6". Not sure the width but its less than 4ft between wells.

OP:sounds like your new truck fits your needs very well, congrat. glad you have the 6'model. 5.5 for me would be unacceptable, esp given the domestic truck pricing these days.
long beds are virtually unattainable these days. i could never part with my 7' long bed 4cyl Toyota (pre Tacoma). good luck, maybe some pics of camping along the way

Not true. Mine is a 2023 that I bought new a year ago. But the new 6th gen does not have an SC option as of now. Rumors it is coming but who knows?

Correct. They were made from '19-23 in the US market. They just weren't all that common as "everyone" wants the full 4 doors. Apparently they are more popular with businesses than as personal vehicles, but it was perfect for me.

Have 65K miles on her now and will get tranny oil changed that will cost about $400 at dealership. We are still using the service contact we got with the vehical.

Never had one of those at any price so far, but had independent shop do it few times when I was using SUV for business driving and they did a fine job.

Anyway, it's understandable dealer does it for you since you got a contract.

Transmission oil changes are not in the service contract.

We are getting a 30 mph transmission surging which seems to be a common thing with these vintage of rangers. Supposedly an easy fix.

Never had one of those at any price so far, but had independent shop do it few times when I was using SUV for business driving and they did a fine job.

Trouble is many, if not most of modern high-number-of-speeds ATs require special fluids, often manufacturer-specific, and a dealer-only item. Long gone are the days when you could just run down to your friendly autoparts store & pick up a couple quarts of Dextron and call it good.

We are getting a 30 mph transmission surging which seems to be a common thing with these vintage of rangers. Supposedly an easy fix.

My 2019 Ranger started doing that back in September. It got progressively worse and would be slow to shift into 9th or 10th gear. Problems with the Ford ten speed is well documented although it appears that an upgrade was included with the 2021 models.

The response from Ford was to do a reprogramming. My dealer charged just under $500 for that service. The reprogramming didn't fix so the next step was to replace the transmission valve body for $1,300. I was told that both of these had to be done first and then proceed to a complete overhaul or replacement. A new transmission from Ford with labor was estimated to be $9,000. Ford eventually agreed to help cover part of the cost I was charged just over $900. The good news is that the repair seemed to take care of the problem. It shifted through all of the speeds but still had an occasional little shifting quirk at that 30-35 speed.

My Ranger had around 82,000 miles and the only towing it does is pulling a two place snowmobile trailer (1,500 pounds) and single axle 12' utility trailer with the Polaris General side by side UTV. Ford claims these trucks can pull 7,500 pounds. The Ranger transmission should hold up for more than 82,000 miles.

So I traded the Ranger for a 2024 Chevy Colorado. I know their 8 speed transmissions are far from bullet proof but I was reluctant to hand any more money to Ford

We tow much and now at 65K, been happy. Reading on the Ranger page, lots of grief with surging on the 19's. Getting it looked at on Friday and will report back
