My 7060 has no brake issues what so ever. Purchased 3 months ago, however.

First": TFLT please end the suspense and tell us what you did !

A couple of thoughts on late model tractor brakes:

Most if not all have 2 hydraulic brake circuits (one left and one right) very much like any simple older US automobile. Those often actuate mechanical wet brake disks internal to rear axles. Tractor Data says the 12sp version of the 7060 has "hydraulic wet brakes" and I have no clue what that is compared to the other wet brakes on non-12speed 7060's. Take a look at TractorData.

Is your 7060 in question a 12 speed and were the others with the disease ?

1) Many have "equalizers" between left and right brake systems. You said early in the thread that has been investigated already.

2) Some tractors (specifically MF2650-60-70-80 series which I own one of) come with factory-known deficient brakes (!!) I am not kidding even a little bit. Have you tested the 7060 on steep ground ? As delivered mine would not hold the tractor on a 40% slope. It was factory-equipped, as apparently all of them were, with "4 disc" brakes. After you force the issue they will tear the tractor down -- a major job -- and put in a "5 disc system" which will hold the tractor on a 40% slope. Since MF/AGCO will of course not comment, I must assume that they cynically build the tractors with lousy brakes on the statistical assumption that "most" users are on flat ground and will never catch them. Harsh, but what else could you conclude ? BUT THAT IS A DIFFERENT KIND OF ISSUE. My brakes never went to the floor.
3) I would jump on the "lets pressure bleed these" bandwagon EXCEPT that you found so many of the same model with the disease. This is wild. Surely Kubota would jump on this !!

I have a 2016 M7060 HDC12 with 164 hours and I have had no issues with the brakes.

Thanks Roger, I appreciate your contribution. I am feeling more confident that this will be sorted out! Do you love your 7060? - I already know the answer!

tflt, just reading this thread and curious if this was finally figured out?

I have a brand new 2019 HDC12 (2 hours on the clock) and there are no issues with the brakes so far. Will chime back in if that changes.

Well 2 years and 250 hours later, no brake issues as of yet. ;)

Wow sorry for the late response, I ended up getting an M7060HDC12 new from forum member Art White at Whites farm supply. I have almost 1000 hrs on it now, and it has been perfect. No break issues. What I learned is that the issue seemed to be from improper dealer setup. It seems that the new machines require a very long initial bleeding that I was told requires the tractor to run for quite a while after adding hydraulic fluid. Looks like this step was being overlooked. The 7060 is great, I currently use it most often with a land pride hydraulic back blade rbt 40108 and a 60" HD grapple from titan ripping and tearing on my property.

Here is how brakes work, probably never bleed at factory. Mine are rock solid

Interesting that the diagrams above show 3 disks per side and the brakes are reported very good and all is OK. Obviously a total different machine but my 2011 MF2660 was delivered with 4 disks per side and would not hold the tractor on a hillside (40% slope). It would creep and could not be totally stopped. Massey/AGCO knew it and apparently delivered thousands of them with such marginal brakes waiting to see who complained (!) When the issue was raised to a dealer AGCO paid for breaking the tractor apart and installing a 5th disk on each side. Major mod to the tractor. I had a friend with the same model, same problem and same solution.

Just interesting that the Massey took 5 disks per side to provide decent brakes yet here is a Kubota M7060 model that does just fine with only 3 disks per side. One has to think "better design."

I just changed the transmission oil on my new to me M7060 and surprise, my brakes are almost gone altogether. Do I need to bleed the brake system and if so, how? Thanks for any reply.

Second thread today suggesting a link between Kubota BRAKES and transmission fluid. Are they really running hydraulic brakes using transmission fluid instead of brake fluid !?

Yes some Kubota tractors such as M7060 had rear brake disk operating in hyd oil with master filled by hyd oil supplied by hyd pump. JD tractors have had similar type wet brakes/master cylinder since 1961

Yes they do, the trans oil goes through the steering then keeps the brakes master cylinder replenished.

On motorcycles with a wet clutch and where the engine and transmission share oil, you need to use oil without friction reducers.

I wonder if there are different types of tractor oil which similarly have, or do not have, friction reducers, for this same reason?

Is it that the hydraulic fluid is the problem in the pressure lines, or is it that the hydraulic fluid is too slippery for the wet brakes?

I bought my M6040 brand new in 2009. It has never had a brake problem of any kind. I started it today - after siting for five months. Drove it around to get it up to temp - no brake problems.

oosik
Although M6040 & M7060 utilize identical wet brake disks(TC750-65180) that operate in hyd oil 40 series brakes are manually controlled with rods attached to brake pedals while the 60 series brakes are controlled by a master cylinder & hyd pressure.

Tractor oils have friction reducers exactly for that reason.

Such motorcycles need oil without friction reducers because friction reducers will cause clutch slipping.

How would friction reducers help a tractor with wet brakes?

I think you're talking about "friction modifiers", which don't necessarily reduce friction.
