I just changed the transmission oil on my new to me M7060 and surprise, my brakes are almost gone altogether. Do I need to bleed the brake system and if so, how? Thanks for any reply.
Second thread today suggesting a link between Kubota BRAKES and transmission fluid. Are they really running hydraulic brakes using transmission fluid instead of brake fluid !?

Yes some Kubota tractors such as M7060 had rear brake disk operating in hyd oil with master filled by hyd oil supplied by hyd pump. JD tractors have had similar type wet brakes/master cylinder since 1961

Yes they do, the trans oil goes through the steering then keeps the brakes master cylinder replenished.

On motorcycles with a wet clutch and where the engine and transmission share oil, you need to use oil without friction reducers.

I wonder if there are different types of tractor oil which similarly have, or do not have, friction reducers, for this same reason?

Is it that the hydraulic fluid is the problem in the pressure lines, or is it that the hydraulic fluid is too slippery for the wet brakes?

I bought my M6040 brand new in 2009. It has never had a brake problem of any kind. I started it today - after siting for five months. Drove it around to get it up to temp - no brake problems.

Although M6040 & M7060 utilize identical wet brake disks(TC750-65180) that operate in hyd oil 40 series brakes are manually controlled with rods attached to brake pedals while the 60 series brakes are controlled by a master cylinder & hyd pressure.

Tractor oils have friction reducers exactly for that reason.

Such motorcycles need oil without friction reducers because friction reducers will cause clutch slipping.

How would friction reducers help a tractor with wet brakes?

I think you're talking about "friction modifiers", which don't necessarily reduce friction.
