You keep your money and the device. I'm all good with what I have. Thanks.

Sounds a lot like me with buying/using a computer,... many years ago.
Now I can't/won't do without!

I’m not anti Lock & Lube, I’ve looked at them and can see they would be good in many cases. How do they work for U joint zerks? Will they fit?

I recently greased the PTO u joints on my brush hog with it, worked just fine.

One pin on the left lift cylinder was dry:eek: It would slide side to side but thankfully had no radial play.
Some how I had never greased that zerk because of its angle it was difficult to get the grease gun to stay attached[no locknlube].
I did manage to pump it full which tightened it right up.

Since I brought it up, I have never seen nor used a locknlube, was just mentioning it an an excuse for not greasing that zerk:eek:

i used to be an over greaser myself.....until i went to overgreaser anonymous.

after i went thru the 10 step over greaser process and got my Fonzie pin, i spent 8 hours disassembling my loader completely and cleaning out the gobs of grease i had installed in it. spent hours cleaning off the greasy mess and reassembling it. now i only squirt once in each zerk after 8 hours of USE. no more mess and no waste ( after reassembly i did squirt until i saw some bleed by).

tractor looks way nicer. my clothes dont have globs of grease on them when i brush past the loader, and i really dont worry about wrecking anything.

oh..and i have the lock n lube and have NEVER found a zerk it doesn't work on. worth every cent.

I can with all the political pandering I get for money lately.

If you think you can do without a computer, how do you believe that you could be a participating member of TBN.
Snail mail ???
Last time I checked, it seemed that a computer is required!

Happy for ya. Still don't want or need one. Useless item in my view.
Ignorance is bliss they say. Faster and easier for 99% that have used them. Funny why so many would spend $30 on a useless item. :confused3: But stick to your guns!

Thing is, not many fellas will ever change a position once they take one. Think Fonzie from happy days. "I was wr...wr.. wro.. wron...."
Very very few will change their mind. Or ever take a "well, I will give it a look" or have an open mind. No, it is always "I am right, I said I was right, my mind is made up and nothing on this earth will ever change that." this is just the way most guys (not all) roll.

Going back to greasing...

I typically grease until I see a bit of grease coming out. I dont worry about it after that. I have too many other things to worry about. The extra grease sits there, getting dirty, falling off, or getting wiped off by brush or trees... not exactly wiped... more like smeared.
That is until I wash the tractor. I use a pressure washer that pumps cold water, which does nothing to the grease other than spread it around. Then, I simply move on.

I do clean the zerk before greasing though. Dont want to push that crap through the zerk into the joint. Use Tub-o-Towels to clean out the recessed zerk.

I just grease it till I see it coming out and leave the extra grease , Then it falls off in the driveway I step on it and track it everywhere.........

Me too! I tracked moly grease onto our front walkway. What a nightmare. Wife is super happy with me too...

My 40 year old Hotsy with only 1,000 psi, does a great job removing grease.......because the water is HOT water at 1,000 psi.

Agree with wiping off fitting before attaching coupler. Have bunch of grease guns. Mostly use pneumatic with hose TSC moly grease with lock n lube. Pneumatic with hose red TSC premium red. Find these greases don’t leak out the guns during hot weather.
Then pneumatic with metal line for some fittings I can’t reach. Some manual ones setup for specific equipment. Some of of my EA wicked grapple pins are not compatible with the lock and lube coupler. Wheel bearings synthetic grease. Don’t need roadside repairs.

I clean the zerk before greasing, pump until I see a little bit come out and wipe off the globs if any.
As for the LNL, great idea, just purchased one a couple weeks ago, unfortunately it is too large in diameter to fit in the recessed backhoe pins. I contacted LNL, response felt like "ehh, you're the only one that has complained". Everybody that has ran into this issue should contact them. It shouldn't be too difficult to make a slightly smaller diameter coupler.

As for why the LNL is superior (or the idea of it) IT latches on to the zerk and allows 2 hands to work the grease gun and many times after applying grease the coupler doesn't want to release and you can't always reach the barrel to loosen it.

LnL actually DOES advertise that they sell a smaller diameter ADAPTER.

I've got the lnl, it fits everything on my massey gc1710. The only hard part to reach is the zerks on the ssqa handles on the loader, I have to curl the bucket a certain way to get to them.

Actually I had something new happen yesterday, I was hitting all the zerks til I got to the pivot over there between dipper and boom, I couldn't pump anything into it. Tried pushing a nail against the ball in the zerk and it did move, but still was taking no grease. I was about to replace the zerk, but then tried moving the dipper up and down a few times and presto it took grease. Not for sure what was going on there, but I'm thinking the seals were holding so tight that it wouldn't let any grease slip past them (to allow for new grease to enter the cavity) until I moved the dipper and broke the seal.

The Pin was just pressed up against the port or hole from the zerk and had no where to go, once you moved the dipper, it created a little gap for the grease. Happens often.

Every 10 hours of tractor/loader run-time or so:

1) carry a rag as you go and wipe each zerk before you grease.
2) pump until you see some movement or old grease starting to push out
3) never clean your tractor, it doesn't mind being greasy. You can just wipe off any high contact areas as needed. If you have huge globs falling onto the ground, you pumped too much lol.

Bear, maybe you're right, never happened to me before though.
