I am considering buying a used trailer. Here is what I am looking for. I want a 10K rating to keep it under DOT Regs. I prefer about 18 feet log with at least 75 inches between the fenders. Not a tag trailer because the axles are too far back. I want flip up spring assisted ramps if possible. Must have electric brakes, not hydraulics. No deck trailers. Not sure about the springs type as in slipper springs versus standard shackle types. Must have adjustable tongue bracket so that I can level off the trailer and fit the hitch on my truck. I see a lot for sale around me for $1500 to 2K and needing work or no titles. Others with titles are $2K and up and might need work. What do you have and how do you like it. I don't want to buy a new one due to how little it will be used.

Eddie has it exactly correct!
I too, only use my equipment trailer very occasionally ...maybe only twice each year.
I bought a new 20' equipment trailer from Tim's RV, in Erving, MA. (413-522-3410)
They custom ordered the exact trailer I wanted!
Absolutely great people to buy from, with excellent pricing.
Every used trailer I had looked at was junk, needed lots of work, and was over priced.
Wherever you are in central MA., you should drive out to Erving and have a talk with them.
You can register your new trailer in Maine, and save a bunch in registration fees (ME. 5 year valid registration= $100) and excise tax too.
Probably, if you pay with cash, credit card, or an out of state check (NH?) you could avoid sales tax also.
All you need is a certificate of origin (free- furnished by the selling dealer), and Maine will not charge you sales tax to register there.

Jennifer is an efficient/great lady too!
NEW trailer =
New decking
New tires and wheels
New wiring and lights
New paint
No rust!
Excellent resale value
For your stated use, most any brand of new trailer will be just fine.
Tim's RV sells trailers by Quality Steel & Aluminum, made in Elkhardt, IN.
Mine is a 14K equipment trailer, and is just perfect for my use.
I added a 9500 lb. Superwinch, and carry two snatch blocks also.
I can pull anything aboard if need be.
