Eddie, I didn't measure, but the rebar looks to be every 12", 15" max. No way to work without stepping on it. Has the pex pipe fastened to it. For peace of mind the builder charges the pex with air and a gauge. Monitors it while they are pouring. Not sure he would do if the pressure dropped.

Finally broke ground on my shop last week. Weather has been good, and looks to stay good into next week, so hopefully they can get it knocked out by Thanksgiving.

Ovrszd hauled a LOT of fill after the wife decided that she wanted to move the shop farther south than originally planned. I can't remember now how many scraper loads it was, but it was a BUNCH. I was the resident packer. Luckily, it had all summer to settle, and it ended up looking great when they did start on the shop.

Rebar and foam in yesterday. Should get the floor heat ran today, and hopefully pour concrete on Thursday.
How much is a yard of concrete these days in yalls neck of the woods?

I’ll be honest, I have no idea! My builder gave us a price for a finished building to our specs. Didn’t itemize it for us. Richard has been a lot more hands on with his build, he could probably give you an idea.

Ok that's cool. He did a nice job laying out the rebar.

Looks great. Hope you will keep us updated through the whole process. This is the exact size shop I am looking for. Trying to decide between a pole barn, metal building or stick built.

Same crew remodeled the outside of the house a couple of years ago. Really good at what they do as far as I can tell.

I live close to, by not close enough to an Amish/Mennonite community. I’m not opposed to it, maybe just jealous because I’m not in their commuting zone. I have to make alternate arrangements to enlist their services.

We have groups integrated in our county. Most close enough to travel by horse. But they also hire a lot of vehicular travel. Several are in the construction field. They do excellent work under the guidance of a quality contractor. Left to their own guidance the quality lowers.

Was wondering the same thing on about starting the framing. I would get the slab saw cut first why nothing is in the way and the concrete still green.

He set anchors in the concrete yesterday, so he didn’t have to drill today. They did cut the concrete in the center lengthwise and two cuts to split it into thirds. Four walls up, electric, water, sewer, and gas line run!

Man this is happening fast for you:thumbsup: Looks great. They'll probably sheath the walls after they plumb everything then set the trusses. 14' walls need sheathing first.

Yeh I have no idea the order things will go. Two bundles of plywood sheets and trusses are on location. Pretty good chance of rain this eve, and tomorrow, so progress may come to a halt tomorrow.

Sure is nice seeing how good of a job that they are doing. Something that I've always felt was a good indicator of a good contractor over one in over his head is how clean they keep their working area. Some jobs you can't walk anywhere without having to step over debris, or the garbage pile is overwhelming.

It is going to be a stick built building. Spray foam insulation on the walls, and blow in insulation in the ceiling. It will have a metal panel ceiling, and we are still working on what the walls will be. Builder wants to do metal panel walls, and we want OSB walls. I think it will help absorb the noise. Builder is super particular about his buildings and hates the look of OSB. So far we have "maybe" decided on plywood stood on end so that it was 8ft high, and then metal liner from there on up.

That's almost identical to my shop except I used fiberglass batts in the walls and the walls are 3/4" plywood around the bottom eight feet with steel paneling above that.

The nice thing about 3/4" plywood is it adds a great deal of strength to the structure and it also makes a very tough and durable wall that's very resistant to damage with the benefit of anything is easily and very securely fastened to it anywheres.
