I pulled this old smoke dragon out of my basement the other day....
IMG_3608.JPG Capture.JPG

The hardest part was moving it from it's original location to out the basement door, after that the grapple made easy work of it :D
I find that I end up using my grapple almost as much for these 'unique' one off jobs that I never anticipated, than I do for the more standard jobs I had planned for it, like land clearing and brush.

I'm not sure if I should send the woodstove to the scrap yard, or cut the top off it and make an evaporator for my maple syrup.

NICE looking grapple, I find I also use mine for lots of other stuff also.

Piston has a WR Long grapple shown in the pictures. I have a WR Long grapple (of my three grapples) and they are top notch grapples. I chose the WR Long over the EA largely due to vertical opening capacity.

Yes me to as I recall it's got 46''plus of vertical opening capacity. I do think the Wicked are teeth are sharper & nicer looking. Don't know if it helps or not.P1010330.JPGP1010128.JPGP1010136.JPG

I moved some eucalyptus rounds today and figured I would see if I could move a few large pieces I have as I want to use them for a barricade along the roadside of my pond. It was tight quarters so I removed my mower I use to keep the rear wheels on the ground. Well I got them out of the overgrown area. Load was not centered my left rear wanted to come off the ground when I stepped off the tractor to take the pictures, I jumped back on the tractor to lower the loader (wish I would remember to get my fingers out of the lens area). I have a lot of rear ballast on tractor rear wheels. I think if I had the load centered I would have been OK. I don't know if anyone is familiar with eucalyptus it is dense and very Heavy even when dry. This Euch log was cut down about 35 years ago so it is real dry. Extremely hard wood (it's almost as if these stumps have petrified instead of breaking down over the years) I think there are 4 more in the brush pile. The bushes and posion oak have grown up around the logs & covered them up. After I removed the stumps and some piles of rocks I will brush hog the area and reclaim it. I wanted to remove the brush years ago But my wife said Oh leave it as habitat for the wild animals! Last week she saw a coyote with her black cat hanging from its jaws. Now she wants me to remove all the brush. : (

14 foot long by 28" diameter EWP log for the sawmill. It lifted it just high enough to clear the fenders on my trailer. 20180709_180454.jpeg

Nice log - that is starting to crowd 2000 lbs I would say. Will make some nice lumber.

I estimate it weights around 2900 lbs I needed the larger opening 42.5 " of the WR Long to grab it. I am impressed on the capacity of the Tractors loader if I didn't have 4 whl drive it would have been real difficult to move it without ballast on my 3 pt. Next time I move it i will be able to center the load should be a bit easier to lift and wheel it away to its final destination as a deterrent to the folks that want to pull over along my fence line wide spot to use their Cell phones I wouldn't mine except after they leave i usually find a few empty beer cans, or tissues grrr.

I used Timber and Lumber Calculators at WOODWEB to estimate the weight

Nice! If you cut that in quarters I'd be able to roll them around with my little machine.
