Correct! But, the CAD will expect to see some hay production. A neighbor, at our Fayette County place. would buy a round bale and display it at front of his property every year. He was eventually busted and lost his Ag Exemption plus got to pay back his tax savings over several years. The CAD folks are not dummies.
You can also keep your AG exemption if your land is in “The land must be devoted principally to agricultural use. Agricultural use includes producing crops, livestock, poultry, fish, or cover crops. It also can include leaving the land idle for a government program or for normal crop or livestock rotation. Land used for raising certain exotic animals (including exotic birds) to produce human food or other items of commercial value qualifies.”
Just have a valid plan.
