I wasn't sure where to put this post - but I figured I would try transportation since a lot of you are chaining down your equipment to haul.

I was wondering if anyone has found the cheapest place to buy chain? I am looking for chain for outdoor work, logging, light lifting, etc. So I don't need a super high end chain to hold down my expensive equipment. I just need some good 'ol chain to keep handy when I have a need.

Amazon? TSC? Rural King? Dollar Tree? Bob's Chain Emporium?

Just watch local places like TSC and local hardware stores for a sale.

Never ordered chain because I thought the shipping cost would be too high. But I see a lot of places selling chain online.

i bought mine online i think amazon had the best price when i was looking. about 1/2 what lowes or TSC wanted

I bought some "Campbell Grade 43 Carbon Steel High Test Chain in Round Pail, Bright, 3/8" , 75' Length, 5400 lb. Load Capacity" off of Amazon for $98, free shipping. I'd previously bought 92' of 5/16" chain for $78/free shipping.

The next day, though, it was listed at $230 w/ free shipping (the 5/16" also jumped the day after I bought it).

Not sure what the deal is there, if those sellers just didn't realize what they were doing? But they did honor the orders.

Most of mine is from Amazon too. Seems to be the best price and free shipping. Mailman is not a fan.

I get my stuff from AWdirect, agrisupply, and the local rigging supply.

Local is a little more but no shipping and I can have it same day if need be. They also make straps and slings on site.

I get mine from Home Depot. Comes in a bag and called logging chain. Works great and was cheap. Haven't broken any of them yet

I check my local New Holland dealers display area when I go in and the JD when I go in they have specials at times on 5/16 or 3/8 gold anodized
for a decent price.

At least up until a few years ago, Lowes had 20' lengths of zinc-plated G70 chain, with hooks, for a very reasonable price. Better than the other stores in my area.

Bought Blue Hawk Grade 70, 5/16", 20 ft with hooks for $36.98 from Lowe's this summer. According to the package, it's made in the good ole USA. :united-states:

No links at ebay at $38.90?
The link below which I quoted is 2 for $55 or about $27.50@

And paying tax is up to you, your state and your ethics.

Harbor Freight w/ 20 to 25% off coupon

That's what I did. Got a couple of 15 foot chains and cut them in half, added hooks to tie down 4 corners of the skid steer.
I've also purchased several different tie down type items from Harris Co.s on ebay. Good stuff at a good price.

Harris is my go to for all my needs. Good prices, fast free shipping, and no tax.
