I think people are getting tired of burning corn in their cars,,,

A local Walmart added a gas station to the outer edge of the parking lot.
The Walmart has been there over a decade,, but, the fuel station has been open only a month,,

My SIL noticed the place is selling both 10% and ethanol-free gasoline.
The reason my SIL noticed the ethanol-free gas is that he has the

He puts ethanol-free gas in that tractor because the tractor is only used to pull the yard cart.
So, the tractor sets for long periods,,,
Mowing is done with a diesel.

The ethanol-free is only about $0.30 more than 10% ethanol gas price.
He did not notice the octane of the ethanol-free gas,,,
it might not be the 93 octane I put in the chain saw,,,

The 10% gas was priced lower than any local gas stations,,
that might be "attention-getter" pricing? :cool2:
I had a 1993 Honda Accord that would get 15% better gas mileage when ethanol-free gas was used exclusively.
It has been a while since we have had low cost no-ethanol fuel available.
I wonder if our new Honda will give better mileage?? Hmmmmmm,,,,,,,

Anyone else notice Walmart selling ethanol-free gas,,,, YET!!??

Yeah, some areas are slow to come around. My area, we have it all readily available most everywhere... E0, E10, E15, E20, E30, E50, and E85. I can get ethanol free at a dozen locations within 15 miles of me. There is no federal mandate that ethanol free can't be sold. That is state and retail directed.

puregas.com has a comprehensive nationwide list of E-zero gas retailers. My local gas station sells E0 but because they're across the street from a giant marine/powersports store they can charge $5/gallon year round.

I still buy it for the saws, weed whacker, lawn mowers, etc. but can't afford to use it in anything else. Love the smell of E0 and I could pick it easily over E10 in a blind smell test. Smells just like the canned Coleman fuel which back in the day was called "white gas". Used to call unleaded gas "white gas" and prior to E10 I used to use it in my Coleman lanterns and stoves.

My town doesn't have any stations (but does have a walmart), but a place close to work has it.
That price is amazing. I paid something like 3.69 a gallon this winter.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal for on-road use.. No?
Of course, so is off-road diesel.

Few years ago tried to get Ethanol-Free Gasoline drove 50 miles round trip to nearest station, my "reward" was the gas station stole my credit card number and used it to make unauthorized online purchases! Needless to say never went back to that place. I would be willing to drive extra 20 miles to nearest Walmart to get corn-free but so far they don't even have any gas pumps.

Why would you say that? I use it on the road in an old pickup. There's nothing that says "Off-road" about it. You don't pay road taxes on off-road diesel, that the reason you can't use it on the road.

Did you actually hand them your card? If not, it could have been a skimmer on the pump that they weren't aware of.

What! Don't you want help support full time farmers who use real tractors to raise corn for a living?

I thought it said off road use only at the station I got it from. I was just down there today too, I coulda looked.
If I'm wrong, then good. I just thought it was.

Ethanol free gasoline sold at airports, contains lead (100LL).
Lead is reported to cause carbon buildup.
Great, I need to fill up my '48 PowerWagon at an airport now?... Haha.

Because lead has lubricity additives, you really need it for older engines that do not have hardened valve guides. I regularly got gas for my 8N at the airport. You can buy an additive now instead but that's what I did 25 years ago when lead was outlawed and old engines either should have leaded fuel, an additive or replacement hardened valve guides. I would never use leaded fuel in a modern engine because of the costly emissions stuff it would damage.

On ethanol gas and off road comments, it is improbable that you saw that. That was for off road diesel fuel. Maybe try ethanol free gas sometime; they say you get 10% better mileage.

It was like $1.25 more per gallon. I'll take my 10% hit.

For the PW, it's about 70 years old, all original. I'll probably rebuild and get hardened seats. It sits till time magically appears.

I have seen off road gas at a local station, it was racing fuel. Only time I have ever seen off road use only gas at a station.

A question on the gas sold at airports, I have been told it is high enough octane rating to burn up at least such as atv engines. Is that true?

Aviation gas is 100 (low lead) octane!
I do know that local fire departments buy it for their small generators and chain saws.
I always thought that the only damage 100LL could do was to your wallet.

It is truly criminal how stations that have ethanol free have up charge compared to ethanol laced fuel. May not be their doing, but the fuel terminal. Gas closed Friday on the commodity market at $1.58. Ethanol closed at $1.51. To have a 20 or 30 cent up charge for ethanol free is taking advantage of folks. I have no problem using ethanol, and do, but also know that it is unethical to charge more than a fuel is actually worth. Especially since all fuel terminals get only ethanol free gas only from the refiners. The ethanol is mixed in later, either at the terminal when loaded on the tanker, or at the retailer. But, also state taxation and such play a hand in fuel costs at the pump, and many times states will play games with taxes to manipulate the market.
