Brandi, when we lived out in the country I fertilized the yard with 13/13/13 once a year; same stuff the neighbor put on our pastures. And I did not water the yard.. But here in town I try to keep a decent looking lawn. I didn't try to mow today. We only had one pretty brief heavy downpour today that put about .11" of rain in my gauge, but the NWS is still forecasting 40% today and 60% tomorrow.

Nice little shower just passed through. Lasted about an hour. Will need to check the guage and see how much water got dumped.

Edited to add:

.65" in about an hour. Saves me from watering the garden, and certainly going to help that seed in the pasture. More rain a'comin' in the next few days.

Bird,
I understand. When the kids were born, we had a small house and lot in a small starter home subdivison on Lake Conroe. I edged the driveway and the whole 9 yards (no pun intended).

Got blasted, 2" in 20 minutes, no hail. HS

Nice 1/2" shower from 4:30 - 5:30 pm ......... added to the 28" in last 30 days. Ranch is soggy. Tractors parked for a month. Tried to mow with JD ZT this morning but, did more damage than good in this sandy soil.

We never turn down rain but, it would be nice to spread it out a bit.

I hope Luke and I do not get rained out this weekend. We are going to Rebecca's to put in a fence like this...... 1-24-15 Fence Rebecca Wants.jpg Well, probably just the posts this weekend.

I just heard quite a noise outside; another brief, but heavy downpour.

Bird,
Send that noise down to my house and not just east of Austin.

It was brief enough that I only got .61" this morning, but with the ground saturated all ready, I've still got some puddles. I've mowed through water before, but not at this location. The ground is too soft for the mower.

Now if I could just find a miniature hay baler . . . .

Got up before 4:30 this morning to the sound of thunder and flashes of lightning. 5 a.m. we had another very brief frog stranglin' gully washer, but no wind, and now has settled down to a nice steady rain.

Lightning and rain just started here also.
Enough wild dewberries along my fence line are ripe for picking!

Wee doggee!

I'm taking the 5 cups I picked at lunch yesterday to Grandma Mimi's house to make cobbler this afternoon.

Don, we are really getting pounded by rain and lightning down here, and it looks like it will continue for some time. Storms are moving s-l-o-w-l-y.
Prayers for the kids to make it to school safely. I regret putting my kid on the bus this am. She has perfect attendance and I didn't want to mess that up selfishly. Lightning is hitting the ground about every 20 seconds nearby.

So far, 2.28" in less than 2 hours.

My pond's tributaries are raging like rivers. Bring your own inner tubes!

We used to have a 4' wide 50' long row of dewberries right behind the house. Sure do miss them. So far this morning, I've only gotten about .95" of rain.

You got the big hit Kyle. It's starting to dwindle down now and we only had .9".

Bird, the Dewberries are just making their comeback this year after the drought.

Haven't seen dewberries since 2011. HS

Finally found a picture of my berry patch from April 16, 2002.
