I have been debating on whether or not to get a 50" or a 60" Farm King Snowblower. I have done extensive research on the net and see that alot of people run a 60 with less HP than the CS2410. I would like to hear from anyone running a rear 3pt snowblower on the CS2410 and what their experiences are. I found that the HP ratings on the Farm King are for the Y500 are 15-30 and for the Y600 20-40. The dealer just got both in stock and orange in color to match. I currently have a deposit on either size but have to decide by the weekend. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Buhler/Farmking 50" on my CK20s, it has been a great blower for me. It's moved a lot of snow the last three years.
If you typically get fairly light snowfall accumulations , say 6" or less at a time you can probably get away with the 60" blower, but if you typically get larger snowfall accumulations I think you would be happier with the 50". Your tractor has 19 horsepower at the PTO which is right in the sweet spot for that blower, the 60" requires 20-40 hp and would likely work best at the higher end of the scale. .....KG

Hey Kioti Guy looks like we have the same taste. I have a 2007 M109 Limited. Thanks for the advice the difference in 10" of blower is $100. I will mill over it tonight and see if there is anyone else with an opinion.

I have since sold the 109 but it was a fun bike. ( I just couldn't quit trying to drive it like a sport bike. )
Whereabouts in SK are you? I used to live in Regina......KG

Sorry, I'm a Kubota guy lurking around the forum. I run a 50" Farm King on my BX and it is about 17 PTO HP. We get some pretty heavy snow falls so the 50 works well for me.

I ended up going with the Farm King Y600. The price was only $100 more for 10". The fact that the rear wheels are 46 1/2" it barely covered the tracks and I expect to do some turning. I was impressed with the quality of the welds and the overall appearance. I believe that my CS2410 will be able run it fine for my needs and will take a smaller pass if I get heavy snow. Time will tell as there is no snow yet. Going to set it up tomorrow and will post some pics. As I found it very hard to find any orange pictures anywhere of the Farm King I am posting some.

I just don't understand the allure of a rear mounted blower.

I'd much rather work twice as long going frontwards, with a bucket, as driving my tractor backwards, hurting my neck, back and legs using a rear blower.

It just doesn't make sense to me.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Woods SB54 on 19hp for me. 54in. Next stop was 64 and i felt that was too large.

Having moved all my snow last season with my FEL and rear blade... the allure is time for me. Clearing my 1600ft drive with the FEL and blade took quite a long time. Any snow deeper than say 8-10in I'd have to do in two shifts... thus doubling the time clearing. Eventually the banks got so high it turned into a game of "collect and Pile" which took even longer.

This season, i'll stay warm and toasty until the storm passes, then clear it all in one shot. Oh, and I'll still have some gravel left on the driveway come spring.

I believe the 54" is the ideal size for my tractor with a width of 47". But I could not find a 54" anywhere and the ones I did were in red or green. I wanted orange to match and would have to wait until 2nd week of December until they got them in. How far does yours throw Shift4200? As for the allure I think it boils down to whether you want to lose your FEL and cost. In my case this applied to me. I still want to be able to use the FEL for moving snow and getting out if I get stuck. Also the cost was $1800 for a 60" rear blower versus $4800 for a front mount one. Dealer claims they outsell front end snowblower 4 to 1, so there is still some allure. I will find out this winter, but have found it very easy to drive backwards sitting sideways in the seat and using left foot to run HST.

As the others have mentioned clearing large quantities of snow with just a bucket isn't practical for everyone. My driveway is 1800' long. Most winters we will get over 18' of snow mostly in the form of storms that drop over a foot at a time. Compound that with blowing snow that sometimes leave 5 and 6' drifts. Trying to use the loader to clear this just doesn't work. I used to use a 7000# plow truck to clear the snow but even that had issues, by the end of the winter I had to plow in third gear just to get enough momentum to throw the snow over the existing banks.
Now using the blower I throw the snow away from the drive, which leaves no banks to worry about. Also , with having the rear mounted blower that still leaves me my loader to move large snow banks left by the highway plows at the end of the drive.
Looking backwards to blow snow is small price to pay for the hours of time I save by using the blower.
As you said "different strokes for different folks.".......KG

Good Price on your 60in blower. I paid more for the 54. This is going to be my first season with it. Just last weekend I got it prepped by greasing everything, checking fluid levels, waxing chain and making sure the PTO shaft wasn't too long. Thankfully the shaft offered 3in of play in the shortest position, so no need to cut. Sorry I can't say how much distance it'll throw it... if we get any snow I'll be sure to give a full report.

I too have no issues operating in reverse. I find I spend a lot of time looking over my shoulder while back blading, raking... ect. The front mount unit for my tractor was 2.5x the price of the rear blower. Add in the fact that I use the FEL all year long... it was a no brainer for me to go Rear blower.

Finished putting it all together today but only have one issue. I can not figure out from the manual how to get the cable to wrap and then fasten with cable clamp. There is no diagrams and the instructions were very vague. Could someone post a couple pics of the manual spout assembly and how the cable is ran from the handle. I am normally pretty good at figuring things out but was a long day and just ended up leaving it. I also got a BE Agriease Quick Hitch and installed it. It is pretty slick and get alot more elevation on the snowblower and the back blade I tested out. The only drawback was the QH only came with 1 set of adapters that slip over the pins of the implement. Will probably just tap out spring pin and move adapters to rototiller in the summer or look for another cheap set of slip on adapters. The price did not include setup which would have been another $200.

I went with the Kioti KS50-160FM (former SB50) front mount unit. I have no need to operate the FEL during the winter and I really don't want to drive backwards for the length of my 1,800' sloped driveway (seems to be the distance of 2 other posters). I use my BH as a counter weight...so there ain't no way I'm gonna have traction problems with a 750 pound mass of metal behind the axle. Price, including the front hitch, driveline kit and installation was $4,275. Well worth the cost for my comfort and piece of mind.

Here is another pic, this pic is taken with the chute facing directly forward . Ie the same direction as the main auger. The lugs for the cable are on the far side of the photo. As you can see in the photo ,with the chute in this position the cable has three complete revolutions on each side of the control rod. One side wraps clockwise, the other counter clockwise

I thank you for the pics KiotiGuy it helped immensely. It works great now! Got the tension tight but needed an extra set of hands in order to keep in from uncoiling. Now if it snows I am all ready to go! Looks like you had some already KG.

Could not agree more. As I have fencing along both sides of an 800 foot driveway, one year the berms from using my back blade got so big I had to use the FEL to scoop and move. About 8 hours later, I realized a snow blower purchase was in order for the next season. Front mounts were way too expensive for my budget and went rear mount. Now the snow flies over the fence 30 feet or so and does a much better job overall for the heavier snowfalls. I don't mind turning around as I want the access to the FEL as well for clearing and moving snow banks. It was the best decision for my application.

You will love the 60 inch. I ran a 68 inch Martin on my 19hp pto CT230. When the snow got heavy, I slowed down. Never wished I had a smaller blower. Now I run the blower on a 50 hp tractor. It will blow as much snow as the auger will feed into the blower. I have never seen anyone complain about having too big of a blower for their tractor, but I guess it could happen.
