I recently bought a used Harley Rake Model TR36. Is there a source for the owners manual or parts drawings? It looks in good condition but before I begin using it, I want to make sure everything is as it should be.

I watched Ted's video and he mentions "smoking the clutch". That's the primary reason I want a manual. I'd hate to break the drivetrain on my new tractor.

Thank you. I called Kevin at customer service and he emailed me the owners manual before I was off the phone.

By smoking the clutch, I think he is talking about new clutches that have been coated with a protectant as it may sit out in the weather for months or years.

By loosing the nuts and springs, you release enough pressure that the clutch will spin if you bury the rake in the ground and rev up the tractor and let the varnish burn off, therefore the term smoking the clutch.

Then retighten the nuts to specs, and you are good to go.

If it is a used one, you might not have to smoke the clutch.

You could disassemble the clutch and look at the condition of the clutch pads.

Will do. Thank you. I took a look at the gear box last night and it needs to be drained. Filled with water and "milk". I'll try to post a few pics tonight of the clutch assembly.

I have a question on the clutch. The top picture is the rake I have. I see the clutch is slightly different in another rake. Do they work the same way?

Here are a few pictures of the clutch assembly. Do I loosen up the bolts on the assembly then "burn" it?IMG_20141026_125704980_HDR.jpgIMG_20141026_125716890.jpgIMG_20141026_131001894.jpgIMG_20141026_131005895_HDR.jpg

I attached a link to a video of the Harley Rake. When the bottom roller turns, it makes a noise. Any ideas?

Try loosening the bearing mounting bolts for the roller support bearing opposite the drive side. Rotate the roller to allow the bearing to align itself and the carefully retighten.

Thank you. I did exactly that thinking it was an alignment issue. Still makes the noise as if there is something inside the roller. Weird.

Took it completely apart and cleaned the assembly. I plan on putting a cover over the clutch to keep the weather off of it. The rake was missing the main PTO shield (I got one at TSC) and is missing the cover for the clutch assembly. The parts diagram looks like its a rectangular cover (open on the bottom) that mounts with just one bolt. Can that be right? I think it would shake and rattle with just one mounting point.

Here's what the parts diagram looks like:

Here's what my rake has:

And here is a cover I found from an online picture of a similar power rake:
