I am having a devil of a time finding a DPDT 30 Amp manual transfer switch in Canada. I know they are out there, but I surely can't find them. Any suggestions?
My theory is, I am welding along with my welder plugged into Hydro, and poof the hydro goes out as is well known to happen up here for no particular reason. does that mean I have to stop my project? NOT! Just fire up my genny, throw the transfer switch from the mains to the genny and continue welding.

I looked up Hydro to confirm that it's what I call grid power. The Wikipedia article gave eleven different names used for it in the US.:D

Fairly common item, call an electrical supply house that contractors would use.
Easton Cutler Hammer, GE, Square D, etc.. all make them.
Here's a link to C-H, click on "documentation" tab for catalog Eaton

I got one. Dixon Electric in North Bay has an Eaton. It will be here at the end of the week. All is good, again.

Howdy,
You have lots of other options too. I talk about a few different ones HERE generator-transfer-switch-connection-choices

oh, I see you have ordered something already... maybe return it, and match your electric panel to a interlock, and get yourself a dual pole breaker which fits your size generator, some wire, and a receptacle.

good luck

I'm told (reliable source) Canadian and USA code differs re. transfer switches.

Up here, we have to switch the neutral as well to be compliant. Seems we can't do much up here, w/o running up 2 or 3 times USA pricing....., and that's before our dollar dropped !
