So we are changing our internet provider from dsl (phone line) to a small dish on an antenna mast. The speed is great, but they had to put the mast up 48 feet.

Needless to say, our place looks like a command center now. Plus, I'm suspect about the telescoping mast and guy wire installation. I don't think it will stand the test of time.

We are thrilled to go from < 1 Mg/sec to 6 Mg/sec. But hate the mast....what to do, what to do?

Ron, your place looks like a golf course. Nice.

Kyle,
Only because of excess rain and colder than normal temps. I usually mow 1-2 times after taking some hay off in the spring. I use an 8' finish mower to keep the multiflora roses. locust trees, and other pests from taking over the fields. It is faster than brush hogging and cuts the grass up much finer so it will rot in over winter to fertilize a bit. This year it will probably be 4 cuts as I have done it 3 times already. This weather has resulted in the worst garden year in memory.
It is thundering and black outside right now so no moon shots tonight. :(
To get an idea in my mind of what it might look like I modified yesterday's picture and added a reduced size copy of the supermoon that we took back on June 23rd.
This will have to whet Lou's appetite till we get some good weather. :)

I take photos of sunrises and sunsets and even some shots of the moon. I also play with pics of the water gardens and the water lilies, etc. If y'all start a new thread, please let me know where to find it, 'cause I love to look at neat photos. Mine don't always measure up to others, but can be fun, anyway.

Pacerron, that is a really cool photo of your pond and the moon!

Ron, don't know if the Moon would intersect the tree line in the water's reflection, but if it did it would be behind the trees. Just a small gotcha.;)

FG19,
Remember it is not real. Just a sandwich of 4 layers with different blending modes and different opacities.
Layer 5 was you doing the rain dance in the shadow of the trees under the full moon. It is raining here now. :D

I'm glad to know that my dancing skills are still bringing rains! :D

And I knew you composed the shot, but I still think it is cool!

Great idea, bindian! Pacerron, are y'all planning on making the trek to Oshkosh in 2015? We could all meet up at your place, either coming or going!

Yeh, I know. I needed a little more sky height for the moon but was too lazy to make it:eek:

Which way does the water swirl when you flush, south of the Mason Dixon Line? :p

Trick question. We don't use those fancy flushing inside water closets south of the Mason Dixon line.

I'm not sure we could get reservations for the very next year. I'll check and see what I can find out. I'll also have to hurry and find someone to tend livestock, etc., to plan for 2014, since that is now less than a year away.

Pacerron; Are you planning on going again? Who else wants to go?

One day, while an old pilot was cutting the branch off a tree high above

a river, his axe fell into the river.

When he cried out, the Lord appeared and asked, "Why are you crying?"

The aviator replied that his axe had fallen into water, and he needed the

axe to supplement his meager pension.

The Lord went down into the water and reappeared with a golden axe.

"Is this your axe?" the Lord asked.

The aviator replied, "No."

The Lord again went down and came up with a silver axe. "Is this your Axe?"

the Lord asked.

Again, the aviator replied, "No."

The Lord went down again and came up with an iron axe. "Is this your Axe?"

the Lord asked.

The aviator replied, "Yes."

The Lord was pleased with the aviator's honesty and gave him all three axes

to keep, and the aviator went home happy.

Sometime later the aviator was walking with his woman along the river bank,

and his woman fell into the river. When he cried out, the Lord again

appeared and asked him, "Why are you crying?"

"Oh Lord, my woman has fallen into the water!"

The Lord went down into the water and came up with ANGELINA JOLIE. "Is this

your woman?" the Lord asked.

"Yes," cried the aviator.

The Lord was furious. "You lied! That is an untruth!"

The Pilot replied, "Oh, forgive me Lord. It is a misunderstanding. You see,

if I had said 'no' to ANGELINA JOLIE, You would have come up with CAMERON

DIAZ. Then if I said 'no' to her, you would have come up with my woman. Had

I then said 'yes,' you would have given me all three. And Lord, I am an old

man not able to take care of all three women in a way that they deserve,

that's why I said yes to ANGELINA JOLIE."

And God was pleased.

The moral of this story is: Whenever a Pilot lies, it is for a good and

honorable reason, and only for the benefit of others!

Regardless, I aspire to become a "Cardboard member" whenever I achieve it. Then onto "Aluminum" !!!!

TBN is a place where one can come and write ideas
There is plenty to read and comment if you will,
Now I set here on my butt,
and scribble down stupid stuff,
Some will see it for what it is,
reply with a smile and remarks that fits,
while others will read and think there is no one there at all,
chose not to waste their time or get involved,
That's why it's nice to come to a place where they know your name,
Some take life serious and some are just plain insane,
You got your farmers, ranchers, machine and tools, tractors, balers and disc cutter or two
you have the lonely, happy, wise and witty along with your funny, smart, rhymers and listeners .
they come in middle class, upper class, lower class,
and mixed class, some have no class
the old want to be young while the young want to be wise,,
I just want a tall seat at the bar where there are no flies…
Look out someone been drinking..Lou

Oshkosh.... Where abouts in Texas is that ?
Is that near where those 2 pounder tomatoes are grown?

I was down the river the other day and spotted a roadside garden stand with super big onions. Big as saucers.
Had to stop and ask what the secret was since I have never been able to raise onions like that.
I asked the old guy if it was the earlyness of his planting? He said, might be.
I asked if it was the fertilizer he used? He said, might be.
I asked if it was the rich river bottom soil? He said, might be.
Finally I asked what is the main reason these onions are so big?
He smiled and said, they were shipped in from Texas.
