Western; A big congrats on your endeavor! Sounds like your work is stressful right now too. I'm not on parking lots, but barns ought to be hot and steamy today.

I only ended up with 0.05" of rain, yesterday. Yes, will make things more sultry around here, but I still welcomed it, for the last day of July!

Lou; Bindian and I will vouch for you too!

Here is a link about Oshkosh! And it is welcome to the families, so Lou can bring his wife, and Kyle, you could bring the wife and kids, if wives are not willing to just have bindian and I be references! Who know Kyle, maybe one of your kids will get the aviation addiction, I mean thrill!

What is EAA AirVenture Oshkosh

What is EAA AirVenture Oshkosh

Dad took me to an airshow at Hooks back in the early 1960s. We were so broke, we parked out on the street and watched. When that B-17 flew over and that rumble hit me, I was hooked. I just didn't know it at the time.

No rain anywhere around here. 102 outside my kitchen window yesterday afternoon, but humidity was down to 51%
Maybe I'll become a Grandma today.

Fabric covered airplanes and blacktop runways in Arizona...a recipe for HOT!
Back in the 80's I worked in a research laboratory...I was handed a box full of partially burned airplane parts/fabric. Apparently the plane had burst into flame while sitting on the runway, and they wanted me to run a Thermal analysis on the fabric. To make a long story short, the plane was a crop duster, that had just sprayed some cotton with a defoliant...Sodium Chlorate. Unfortunately, they had not completely emptied the tank that contained an Organo-Phospate insectide and the combination, when mixed, dried and subjected to heat spontaneously combusted. At least the plane was on the ground! Great project; I spent the next year testing flame retardant combinations!

I asked my wife if I could go to Oshkosh,,
she said "where is it?"..
I said "I don't know"..
She said "what is it?",,
I said "I don't know"..
She said "why do you want to go to it?"..
I said "these two blonde pilots and Kyle that has no spine is going"..
She said "Okay.. but take pictures of Kyle"..
It's nice to be married to a blonde.:D. Lou

Lou,
What? Kyle won the fight? Last I heard was .............."then the fight started".

Tell y'all what, it is getting pretty darn warm on these parking lots! Seems the heat makes people "dumber" too:laughing: Getting 6 hours of decent sleep a day now:thumbsup::D

Have had only 14 cigarettes in 3 days!!! Thats BIG for me,, in 3 days I could burn over 200 in the same amount of time:eek: with these hours especially. I have been told, I'm not "fun to be around" right now though:confused3: I dont know why, every one else is the ones trying to P me off:shocked::D

Dennis,
Back in High School in Ag Co-op class, a few of us worked for the school district in the summer and after classes. I was so glad I was put on the mowing (push mowers) crew and not on the parking lot "tarring" crew.

Jim,
DPS opened a huge new mega license center in Spring. When I went in to test for my CDL in Conroe, there were no lines snaking outside. I was second in line. Which really wasn't a line at all. I was told to go to Huntsville to get away from the lines before the opening in Spring.

They supposedly have built a new mega center in Garland, too, but I hope I don't have to drive all the way over there the next time I renew my license.

I'm not sure where it is now, but surely Denton County has its own DPS license facility. Going to Dallas is like a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Folks in my area have been catching a lot of feral hogs lately. It seems they go into the trap just for a little shade.

Yeah, Denton has one on the east side of Loop 288 just south of U.S. 380. I really don't know just how busy it is, but the times I've been by there, at least I didn't see any lines outside.:) Time sure flies as we get older. The last time I was at the Carrollton office, there was a line outside before they opened that morning, but I just realized that was almost 8 years ago when I took my grandson there to get his license.

Yeah, I'd vote to abolish August in Texas.

I agree, but it does help keep the Yankees out. Whenever I hear one complain about the heat, I just tell them it's great weather, no matter how hot it is.

The panhandle goes all the way up to Canada, doesn't it?

Wow! It was hot today. For the last two days I've been mowing around my ponds, my trails, my neighbor's trails, and along both our ROW frontage. That's a half-mile of ROW and I did the ROW across the road from me up to the fence too (absentee owner). After that and a few areas in my trees, I was soaked through every thread of clothing including my socks. Ladies, I don't know how you can stand to work in a sweat soaked brassiere (yes, I know ladies don't sweat, they perspire :)). I'm not trying to get into a discussion of "those parts" of the female anatomy, but a sweat soaked t-shirt drives me nuts. I cannot imagine how miserable I'd be in lady's undergarments. Anyhow, it was so hot I had to stop in the garage laundry room and ring out my t-shirt. My tolerance of this hot weather is about 4 hours and then I have to come in and get a shower. Many summer days I take two showers and go through two sets of clothes. I guess in a world of inconsistency, we can be happy that August in Texas is consistently hot. Be careful out there everyone.
