Sense you mentioned freeze plugs, do you where I can get a block heater for a B7100?

sent PM about B7100 being parted out.

look at that website under:
KUBOTA B7100 Dismantled Machines
Number of Matches: 9
This Page: 1 of 1

Found one in Ohio and one in PA so far. May have found one in NC. About 90 miles from me, waiting on reply. How is your project going?

Thanks for asking:

I'm impatiently waiting to get my parts back from sandblast & painting (they've told me "should be this week" for the last 3 weeks. Unfortunately I can't paint in the winter time except for rattle cans due to my garage heaters - unless I want some of your brethren here entertaining the neighbors!)

Otherwise have all the major parts just waiting for assembly. I'm pickin' around the little parts looking for something to do - tonight I even sandblasted and primed the 3 point attachment parts (that's pretty desperate i realize, especially since my little cabinet builds up static charge when blasting in the winter such that I'll lean in to look closely and get zapped on the nose).

Original engine at machine shop for evaluation. No obvious problem on eyeball inspection by them. I suspect it may have a bad rear main seal since there was oil all over inside of bell housing and clutch was soaked. Perhaps oil just leaked out by the back of engine prompting all the JB weld in that corner but was not a head issue at all. I am low priority at the machine shop so it will be a while until I find out.

When I get the parts back I'll post pictures on a new thread so I don't hijack your project but let you live vicariously until you get what you need to continue yours.

I will keep an eye on Craigslist midwest for 6100/7100 tranny parts -

Old paint, new paint.Spent he day sanding, priming, and painting sheet metal parts. Decided to use the newer Kubota Bright Orange to give my tractor a more current look. The hood is beyond repair and still haven't located one salvage. DSC03899.jpg

Nice work! I wonder how someone does that much damage to their hood. If you're careless or make one mistake, it happens once. But it looks to me like that hood had multiple impacts. Wow.

Wow, that hood looks way worse than mine and mine is beat.

JT, remember B6100 tractors also have the same hood.

I started a new thread on my build progress: "B7100 Modified Instrument Dash".

Ordered the transmission parts new yesterday. Tired of looking and finding. used parts that were as bad as mine. Finished painting the fenders and then hammered out my demolished hood to the point that lots of body putty would fix it but the chances of cracking would be high. Still looking for a real good salvage hood. I know that there are lots of B5100,6100, and 7100 tractors out there that have been parked to kill weeds for an eternity if only I could find them.

My b5100 hood has a 1" deep ding right next to the li'l bull. Been eyeing planishing hammers lately.

Got my transmission parts today. Was in such a hurry to get to work that I forgot to get any pictures. Got it all assembled except for the front cover and input shaft where I broke my lock ring pliers and had to stop until tomorrow when I can find a good strong set. Priced a NEW hood today.Toooooo much! Body putty it will be if I can' locate a good used one.

The hood metal is pretty thick, maybe instead of tons of bondo you can braze or mig some new sheet metal on the bad areas.

If you want to keep the stock appearance then you only have one option.

If you want functional, then you could cut off the front of the hood where the headlights mount and have a shop fab and mig on a flat front. Then you could mount in some rectangular headlights and still put the bull emblem in the middle. I think that could look pretty neat. I almost wish mine was more dinged in the front (ha! too late to trade) to do something like that. The OEM headlights I read are kinda weak. I am trying to figure out what to do with mine. I would like to put more powerful lights in, using a relay with direct link to battery of course. Finding some replacement that will fit the 4 inch opening is a challenge.

Meanwhile I built a front grill pictured below. That radiator was too exposed for me - my boys seem to run into everything when they 'tractor'. I did not put any expanded metal on the front of this one (unlike all others) since wanted to be able to reach in and clean the radiator front. It looks a little awkward, but then so does anyone over 6 ft sitting on this little machine - but that gives it some of its appeal to me.

Looking at the pics of your hood... that shouldn't be much trouble for you or any decent body shop to dolly back into shape. Probably will need to drill out the spot welds to disassemble the front off the top to get access, but filling/grinding the holes and re-spotting is no big deal. The metal isn't rusted into oblivion, therefore it can fairly easily be re-shaped. Shaping in corners is actually much easier than in flat sections since you can "hide" any metal stretching in the shaping rather than having to try to shrink it so it doesn't "oilcan".

Here's a picture - think I can knock that out? Doesn't have to be perfect:

I think you could. That bull emblem comes out.
