chainsaw carrying case

................ Pictures will coming soon! It ended up being 44" long, 13" high, and 13" wide, with 1/2 plywood on the bottom and sides and 3/4 plywood on the ends. It holds a Husky Rancher, 18" bar, and a Stihl with a 14" bar, a one gallon gas can, one gallon of oil, two screnches, a file, and spare chains. Finally, everything for cutting wood all together, in one place, all the time.

Will be anxious to see the pics. Sounds like this box will not be something with a handle to pick up and carry around...:)

Are you going to put wheels under it? (just kidding, but unloading and loading all the items seems like it will be a bit ornerous which leads to not bothering to head off into the woods - - at least for me :) )

One thing about a wooden box- every saw I've ever owned leaks chain oil out over time unless the tank is drained first, .........QUOTE]

Bringing cold chain saws inside with cold oil and/or fuel will often create pressure when things warm up, and then push some oil or fuel out. I usually now crack the fill caps and relieve that pressure, and it helps greatly with the leaking.

Neither the oil or the fuel should harm the wood of the box.

Unfortunately my main saw is stored in a job box on my remote property, so it gets temp cycled every day.

Skyco,
I am almost ready to add three coats of exterior glossy poly. That should take care of the oil leak issue, as my Husky Ranch definately leaks oil. Plus, I am putting in some thin closed cell foam padding under the saws to protect them a little if the box get bounced around in in the bucket on my tractor.

I actually do have two handles, one on each long side. It carries just fine. I only have to load it into the bed of my pickup, into my tractor bucket/wood trailer, or into my workshop, so I'm not planning on ever having to carry it very far (at least I hope I don't ever have to).

Poly coat one is done! Two more to go, then the pics.
