Yes, most tool loaner places will have a diesel compr. gauge..
the only problem I foresee is, u getting the correct adaptor to hook up the gauge to.. MOST are quick-connects
U can possibly RENT IT from Hoye for a couple of bucks.?? IDK.. but they RENT the inj. removal tool..
I DO KNOW they SELL the adaptor..
YOUR machine "probably" wont exceed 400 psi... but u need a gauge that will accept 500 minimum..
Good luck..
I will just make the adapter so that no big deal, i will see what i can find at local parts house for the gauge.
Thanks for your time and help..

I just went through trying to find the right adaptor for a ford tractor. Most kits that I found online and at parts stores had one that could be made to work, but you had to buy the whole kit with adaptors for cars and trucks, from around 60.00 to a couple hundred dollars. I did find one for diesel tractors that was over 100.00 just for the adaptor, no gauge., I can't remember it it had the universal cross bar or not. If you have an old injector you can make a tester fairly easy with the right gauge.

I was just going to cut one on my lathe ,but using a old injector would work to.

Those who don't know these engines always mention glow plugs. These as you know don't have true glow plugs. Your thermostart has no bearing on your tractor running once it's running. No diesels glow plugs would unless there maybe loose and leaking compression. The thermostart is in the intake and therefore has no bearing on it running if you can get it running. An even weak engine should be able to be gotten running in the summer without it, esp with the help of the compression release.

Did not know that, so this engine has an intake heater like a Cummins on a 24V?

Well, like a classic Massey Ferguson. In fact it's the same heating element. I think its a Perkins patent.

Its like an automotive cigarette lighter screwed into the intake manifold, that lets in a little fuel from a tiny reservoir as it warns up, then ignites it, so the cylinders are sucking in warm air and vaporized fuel when you finish pre-heating and crank to start.

Does Cummins use that too?

So I did a compression test and its not good, I hooked up a smoke machine to see where my leak is and I have leaking valves and rings  , so I took the head off, cylinders dont look to bad, I measured one of the cylinders its at 90.13mm need to measure other one but ran out of time, maybe I ball hone it and just re-ring it, I will take the head apart in the next day or so and see what I have :confused2:

I'm showing EP-2210 Piston at 90mm. Rings RS-763 Same piston as the 240,2000.....;)

I seen that to, I need to measure in both directions and see how round the hole is. Hopefully it is close to round.
Thanks for your time and help.

I think that's a sleeved engine, if the cylinders are too far gone.

Yes, it is sleeved, It is a 2T90, I measured the bore on both cylinders info below, now my measuring devices are not high quality but I think it is close.

WS-90 wet sleeve @90mm I'd be checking the Pistons and if not a lot of wear Hone it and ring it. Worst case new pistons also..

Got the pistons out and they are within spec, the rod bearings have some wear so I will change them.

Hey Guys,
Got the engine all back together and running but I seem to still have a fuel problem, this seems to be worse on the number 1 injector, number 2 has it too but not as bad.
With the tractor running and you crack the fuel line at the injector, should you see just fuel coming out, are will there be air in it from being forced around the threads of the fitting?

Fuel only if done for several seconds.

Hey winston1, thanks for the reply, Mine is full of air, I have no air down to the pump, so will an injection pump that is not right injected air into the system?

I can't answer that. Doesn't sound likely to me but maybe the pumpguy will come on board here.

The only thing u can do is, put a clear piece of fuel line from the inj. pump inlet to whatever is in line next..
& SEE if your getting any air at the inlet.. if not.. what about a stuck OPEN injector?? forcing compression back into the injector??
I've seen that happen, but it usually prevents the engine from starting..
To check, pull the stop.. & spin the engine w/ your finger over the injector where the steel line hooks to it.. u should be able to feel "air" if its allowing compression back up thru the injector.
How about fuel flow TO the inj. pump?? unrestricted..??

I will try the clear hose thing and see what i see, but every time i cheek the bleed screws there is no air. I did put new injectors, fuel filter, fuel hose, seals on bleed screws, cleaned out fuel tank. Fuel flow is good to pump. I will test injectors tonight tonight.
Thanks for your time and help!
