The other Tractor from Spalding was a YM2500. I liked it! Fell right in size wise in between the 2000 and the JD. 5103. Wasn't or didn't care for the PTO. at all on the 2500 which I was told could be changed rather easily. Was worried with It belonging to my church and people not knowing how easy it was to shift into the wrong gear. They found a guy to keep up with it and never heard any problems but 1 time. Small Hyd. leak. Steve asked me to see if I could check it out which I asked my son to drive me over. Looked as though the Hyd. Lock was turned and left on and may have tried to lift the mower. No big deal just tightened the line at the pump and it quit. I think the JD 850 was just 1 gear PTO @ 540. And of course this one was UTDA.. Which is just the way he likes it apparently.

YM2610

Why a long pause since the last model? Well, it's sort of hard not to be very bias on the model one owns and loves.

With the YM2500 just mentioned, why wasn't this next model called a YM2510 instead? They both have the same 3T80 engine and both are related to the JD850, JD900HC and JD750 with the same 3T80 base engine construction.

YM2610YM2500 Plate Example.JPG

DSCF4221mdc.jpg

Keep in mind there is no YM2600 either. There is a void of sorts created purposely by Yanmar.

Here's a UTDA YM2610 on the lot.

YM2610--04.JPG

Here's a UTDA YM2610 in my yard. (Wait, they are both the same machine. :giggle: )
YM2610.jpg

OK, I got my Fandom out of the way.

Like the YM2500, the Tach and PTO multi-speed gauge is very much the same.
DSCF7277sm.jpg

The dash and controls are very basic.

DSCF0855md.jpg

Like a few other YM models, both US import and gray market, the YM2610 can use the fuel gauge with cap arrangement.

DSCF0860md.jpg

A YM2610 and a JD850 both UTDA restored.

YM2610-JD850.jpg

Both the YM2500 gear and the YM2610 PowerShift share enough components with the John Deere 50 Series for parts availability, modifications, and attachments. A FEL from the JD850 or JD950 would fit like a glove. The John Deere service and parts manuals are all in English and other languages making these tractors easy to figure out.

The tractors made on the same production lines in Japan.

YM2620

It's a tad of an upgrade over the YM2610.

Models ending in -20 were often with a wet brake rear system. Adjusts were a bit easier unless moisture got into the drums and a bit of rust happens.

The YM2620 has one of the popular engine series, the 3T84. The 3T84-NC exactly.
This engine series is seen throughout the YM US & UK domestic machines and in the wonderful Gray Market machines. This offers more parts and options.

Like the YM2610, the YM2620 comes with the PowerShift. Likewise the -10 & -20 share the same engine panels, hood, fenders and other body parts. However, the grill is different, usually a black-charcoal gray and the floor boards are wider and broader in length.

414-yanmar-ym2620-9828.jpg

From this stance, it's hard to notice if this is a YM2500, YM2610, YM2620 or a YM2820.

414-yanmar-ym2620-9829.jpg

When the engine side panels are on, then it becomes a bit harder as with this UTDA restored model.

UTDA-YM2620.jpg

With the -20 models, the dash and gauges are more modern than the -00 and -10 models.

9aeed1c0e7bb4b31ac92eb3955d13ba3.jpg

As made by Yanmar with all the panels even around the seating. Likewise, between the two images, it does have the same multi-speed PTO as the YM2610.
378f1d4a3ae74fe5b9caa9da40847b63.jpg

With the panels removed, it has the making of the YM2500 & YM2610.

414-yanmar-ym2620-9828.jpg

It's hard to if this was a model with 'draft' control for 3PT attachments. I do see the lever next to the 3PT lift lever like the Yanmar made John Deere 50/55-Series.

414-yanmar-ym2620-9841.jpg

Behind the seat is a rear wall. Great for a toolbox or ability to have an enclosed cab.

YM2700

The YM2700 is the bigger sibling to the YM2200. It's the last of the models ending in -00 with a 2-cly engine. As mentioned before the YM2500 broke the ranks with a 3-cly engine.

The YM2200 engine is the 2TR22
The YM2700 engine is the 2TR27

The YM2200, YM2700, YM2700I, YM2700L and YM2700R share a slew of parts from Yanmar's earlier YM 3-digit models sold only in Japan. These are the YM176, YM177 and YM273. The Parts Manual does show the YM273 being nearly the base of both models.

The looks of the two models are nearly identical.

These models have strange attributes from it's YM273 parent. To drain the hydraulics, there is a top drain and a bottom drain. These must be emptied first before pull the cover off with the suction line before getting to the filter.

YM2820

Much like it's sibling, the YM2620, the YM2820 has a mere 2Hp more. No other models are to be had between these two numbers. Missing are models in the YM2801, YM2802, and YM2810. For some reasoning Yanmar just skips ahead with fewer offerings.

Fredrick's lists the YM2820 as a rare machine, being it's harder to find even in Japan. Low production run of this model with many neat features. The engine is the widely used 3T84 found also in the YM3000, YM3110 and YM3220. What is interesting with this engine, the YM3810 and the YM3000R has the same 3T84 engine with a turbo. Reading some of the tractor forums in Asia and the EU, people would slap on a turbo to their lower model Yanmars with the 3T84 engines.

Since the YM2820 is a rare machine, the body style relates to the YM2620 and the engine like the YM3000 without the turbo. Being rare, it's a bit of a challenge finding images of this certain model.

We'll start off with a very clean looking YM2820 as a UTDA restored machine.

UTDA YM2820DW160L+002 (3).jpg

A really nice one from the eastern EU with it's original tiller.

Floor controls are just a grab near your feet.

393-yanmar-ym2820d-9625.jpg

The dash is very plush with 6 symbol indicator lamps, temp gauge,
fuel gauge, and rpm gauge. The PowerShift is up on the column. This makes for an spacious open cab to walk thru either side.

393-yanmar-ym2820d-9627.jpg

These models typically came with Power Steering.

393-yanmar-ym2820d-9641.jpg

The 3PT controls and draft controls were standard equipment.

393-yanmar-ym2820d-9639.jpg

Like many of the YMxx10 & YMxx20 models, the 4 position multi-select PTO controls are standard as well. At a constant RPM, the PTO speeds would increase in value per the machine specification in the Parts Manual, However, if used in combination of various RPM speeds, one can hit the 500/540 RPMs in any of the selections, thus at high engine RPMS or banding down to lower RPMs to save on fuel, reduce engine wear and reduced noise.

393-yanmar-ym2820d-9638.jpg

Since the Part Manual hasn't been found ... yet, please refer to the YM2620 for functionality and to the YM3000 without turbo for the engine Parts Manual of the 3T84 in the model ahead.

Up till now, the attached PDFs with most of the YM Gray models listed have parts diagrams and part numbered charts. The trouble is, other than numbers to reference the balloon callouts to find the part number, the rest seems a bit unknown, that is until now.

The Parts Manual Rosetta Stone has been located. It is simply this. :)

YM3000

This model breaks tradition in the Yanmar model number system. It's the second model ending in -00 to have a 3-cylinder engine, just like it's related YM2500.
3T84-ENGINE-PLATE.jpg

What's so special about the 3T84 engine? Well, it has US domestic models with the same engine.

When did the YM3000 arrive on the scene? It was an early bird.

1976 YM3000.JPG

Here is a nice UTDA Fredricks restored model of how this machine looked in it's day.

YM3000.jpg

The YM3000 came in an options package as well. The YM3000R. To some, they thought it meant the machine was a tractor-pull event machine or even a tractor racer. We can see Robin with his YM3000R model.

YM3000-Robin.jpg

It took several months to understand that the R after any YM model was indeed not a racer machine. Upon research in the Yanmar Tiller manuals, the R simple meant the machine had all the options to work in the rice paddy fields. Thus one could say, they own a Japan Ricer machine. Back in the 1980s, as Japan vehicle imports hit North America, people called those small cars, rice burners. Funny how the pun can be applied here.

yanmar_tractor_YM3000-8-504x336.jpg

The YM3000 model is greatly admired in Vietnam. There are many instances of seeing these machines in action on video sharing sites.

When looking at the Parts Manuals, matching the cylinder diameter size from one engine to another will show this.
Yanmar engineering thought thru all of this ahead of time. :) Likewise those engine rebuilt kits are somewhat universal with gaskets that align to a few engine variants easily.

The YM2500 & YM3000 Parts Manual really shows how the 3T80 and 3T84 shares many parts. Likewise, those 3T72 and 3T75 engines are likely the same way.

Recently, many of us understood that the YM 4-digit series brought over to North America is considered Gray Market. However, there is indeed a twist. A website down under in Australia shows a few of the YM 4-digit machines as true imports from Japan and sold that way.

One example, the YM3000 came with the normal 3T84, then there was a YM3000T with the 3T84T TURBO engine. The Parts Manual is all in English and includes the YM330DT with TURBO as well. See below.

Likewise there is a YM4300 imported to the English world too.

I was surprised to find a YM500 with the 3T95 engine as well.

Down Under got the special treats from Yanmar. :)

YM3110

This Gray Market import came from California and refurbished with safety hardware. It's been badge as a Zen-Noh to keep it off the Gray Market import radar. There is a long detailed history on the web with Mr. Mike Wallace and importing a huge number of Gray Market machines to North America. Wallace International Trading incorporated in 1984.
YM3110 kenmac-sm.jpg

Continuing with the 3T84 engine with tweaks to the air intake and fuel system, the Hp will rise a tiny bit. It is surprising to notice the wide Hp range of this engine. With the many parts manuals, it would be easy to determine a low ended Hp machine to convert to a higher Hp machine. This engine later will reach the 42Hp range. The engine bay layout is identical to the YM2610 with the 3T80 engine.

YM3110-3T84-engine layout.jpg

The YM3110 seems to use the same frame and chassis as the JD950. It shares the same dash panel, gauges and controls like it's younger sibling the YM2610. Indeed it's a -10 Series model in the line up.

The hour-rpm gauge below operates the same way for PTO performance as the YM2610. See those comments in the prior posting. This makes the machine very attractive for owners who need flexibility.
YM3110-TACH-HOUR-GAUGE.jpg

The -10 models with PowerShift are typically on the floor, in a raised housing. Much like the YM2610.

The RSC1701 is a common tiller for this model.

YM3110-RSC1701.jpg

In this thread, some of the Yanmar models received more than just brand awareness; famous actors, Yan & Mar brothers songs, special noted features, etc. Well, the YM3110 has a unique brand awareness. It has a replica toy model made for kids or collectors.

As an FYI to this thread, should there be additional space to add new found content to the previous postings, I've already gone and added a bunch. :)

There was a posting asking if the F-FX would be next. In the past year, some information has been found, yet not enough to give it a go.

Likewise, the information for a YM US/UK Series 3-digit is sketchy. Actually rScotty should attempt that one. :giggle: He's the most knowledgeable person on those machines with the images and options. My attempt would be a dis-service to spell things out.

The YM3220 could be up next.

YM3220

In the normal Yanmar fashion, there should of been a YM3120 to compliment the YM3110. A YM3120 would of used the same engine as the YM3110, but had the -20 options. The YM3120 never made it. Yet here we are with a YM3220 with no sibling called the YM3210. One could say the YM3110 and the YM3220 are their own siblings, just a tad out of sequence. Both use the 3T84 engine. Indeed a mystery why Yanmar went this route. It's not like 1Hp would of made all that difference either.

Finding the engine ID plate was not an easy task. This image had to be enhanced just to read it.

YM3220-ENGINE-PLATE 3T84-NA ---2.jpg

3-34834.jpg

The best images of the YM3220 came from a person who bought it from a UTDA dealer down south in the USA. Take note the side engine skirts are painted tractor red like the other panels. This aligns to the factory intent as well and not a mistake. Prior models typically had those engine skirts painted Yanmar off-white.

Additionally, this model has the JD950 looking rear fenders and the original Yanmar step up that John Deere then included in their larger 50 Series machines, then the 55 Series and 90 Series Yanmar had made as well. This is really a bent 19mm [3/4-inch] solid bar with the ends flattend and two mounting holes for large bolts to mount.

UTDA updated by owner.jpg

Here's the same YM3220 still in Japan untouched by any refurb or restoration facilities in North America. Note the UFO at the bottom from the front grill. This is very important.
The UFO becomes a very popular selling point on the FX FORTE series machines and the most sought after in Japan from any manufacture of tractors. UFO is a computerized link-up to the Yanmar tiller on the 3PT. It's much more than draft control, it handles tine rotation forwards or backward within certain tiller tine groupings, adjusts tiller tine speeds (not the PTO output), allows the tiller to curl towards the tractor or away (similar to a top-link with hydraulics) and much more.
The UFO function here is an early version. Possible less functions than the FX Series. Yet, incredible to see it here on this model.

1-34832.jpg

The best image found at the time showing the UFO controls on the top rear fender.
Sorry it's just a glimpse. And notice the factory PowerSteering decal on this model.

2-34833.jpg

Like most of the -20 models comes the push dash with all the fancy gauges and controls.
This image is a rare one as it shows a clear view of the center console. Most of the time images are taken with the steering wheel in the way.

112F.jpg

The other dash gauges. Shift is on the column too.

yanmar_tractor_YM3220D-3.jpg

In Japan, the YM2500 model frame and up could use the canopy open cab. Here is a YM3220 with one. Also take note of the divider wall behind the seat. Some of the US YM Series came with this wall as well. A Yanmar tool box mounts onto it. Often we see this tool box in the Parts Manuals.

yanmar_tractor_YM3220D-4.jpg

YM3220--YM4220.JPG

Out of all the Yanmar -20 models, this is one of the ideal machines to own. Only the more rare to us here in the USA is the YM4220 with the Turbo that is probably the best of all the -20 models Yanmar ever made.

If I had to pick a YM model with all the loaded features, it would be the YM3220 or YM4220. These two are the last of the -20 model family. The icing on the cake actually.

Here's the BONUS. The 3T84 engine used is also used in the YM336.
See attachment for the engine parts manual as a good reference. It will show what is shared and what is slightly different.

Both are PowerShift, yet the YM336 has the controls on the floor like the YM2610.

Additionally the YM276 with the 3T84 engine has a Service Manual free on the web. Another good reason why the YM3220 is a smart choice to own.

YM3320 cont.

Some interesting finds for this model.

There is a refurb outfitter of Yanmars in WA state. Due to a legal agreement, they name the machine YNM3220 and paint them Mitsubishi blue. It almost looks like a Mitsubishi D Series.

YM3220 IN MITSUBISHI BLUE.png

They say to AVOID any used tractors coming out of VN. Including Yanmars.
I wonder why? Let's look at a modified VN YM3220

It's the drive backwards machine. Notice the 4WD wheels are the same for front and rear, thus the lead and lag is even. A bit clever on their part.

YM3810 intro

This model is the last of the YM--10 in Series. If a person reviews the YM2610 mentioned earlier, there are many traits carried over to this machine with one single difference, the engine is the 3T84T.

The ending T in the engine ID represents TURBO. It's the IHI RHB6.
Yanmar p/n 121252-18010 for our era and 6T-515 for the current era of this posting.

The manufacture of these turbos is IHI. And the turbo back then is still in production today because it's just too awesome to retire. IHI has a strong American presence, thus getting a replacement is really easy. A bit of the company history here:

The IHI RHB6 is generally found on the Yanmar 3T84T, 3T84T-N, 3T84TJ, 3T84-T, 3T90-TJ engines. People have taken the turbo and applied it in the same manner to the 3T80 with great success.
Note; all the engines mentioned here are of the sleeve cylinder types and not the earlier non-sleeved versions of those engines. The sleeved engines can take the additional increase in pressure and generated heat.

The ID plate and air side intake.
