Winco PTO Generator

I'm looking at getting this for a backup in case my 25KW kohler has a problem during a bad outage.

Anyone have opinions about Winco generators?

i have no experience with that particular model but i recently got rid of a winco i had used since 1972. it would put a timex to shame. abused is a mild statement. a couple oil changes and a plug in that time and it still ran.

Yes, good quality gear.

Nothing like a back-up for your back-up. Curious what the rotor speed is. Brush-less, I assume.

I've had my Winco 15kw for quite a few years now, it's been 100% trouble free...

I've had my 12KW for since 2012, but have only tested it a few times.

Well even though noone responded to this thread for a price check I bought the Winco for $600 and the guy threw in a Wallenstein PTO shaft plus a decent mount.
He demonstrated it, it ran fine. Like many other purchasers of generators he bought it AFTER a major storm, and put hardly any hours on it.

I've got it, know how to use it but don't believe I need to run it every few months like my other "fueled" generators.

Before I bought it my research seemed to show they were tops in quality.

Gad they've become expensive.

You stole it! One thing is if is has brushes, but I think they were some of the first to have brush-less design.

But some would insist, that you need to load up that sucker regularly to heat up the windings and keep the bad effects of moisture at bay.

That looks like such a good deal, I am tempted to get it even though I have a generator (10Kw) in my engine powered Miller welder,,,

That's a 3600RPM generator, and I believe made in China. I think you're better off getting an older Winco, Katolight, etc. that is 1800RPM and made in the US... MUCH heavier duty units that will last a lot longer. I picked up a 25kw Katolight for $350, should never have sold it but I got $1200 for it.

Edited as I missed the fact that it comes with the $700 3-point hitch. So the price does look good for what it is.
