I think a bunch of money may be going to Tesla to build out supercharger sites, which if the Gov is going to spend on charging facilities Tesla will get it done and in a hurry and keep their 99+ % Up time on their chargers

Very Glad Electrify America did not get the big contract on this, may as well burn the cash in that case.

My point was Performance in power on the first year cars. The GTO was a in a whole different Power class than the Mustang

Mustang can take credit for the Pony car race.

The GTO started the Muscle car era.

A hard thing to do since GM banned anything making more than 1 hp per 10 LB because the US Government was going to break GM up over having such a large part of US vehicle sales. Delorean broke the rule but GM let it pass and because of that,
The GTO preceded every GM A Body performance or Ford and Chrysler intermediate Performance car that came after . That also qualifies as starting a Super Trend.

As for the strike and just my 2 cents.

The unions have got what seems to be a very fair deal now.
I hope they settle soon- before to much long term damage is done to the Big 3 and all the other suppliers, workers and businesses that are also affected.

On my 800 mile return trip from Austin Texas ...The Tesla found its way to I-35 and had me back to Murray KY in 15.5 hours.

You keep saying this like it is something good. That 800 mile drive should take 13 hours and 20 minutes or less. Google maps says 12 hours and 36 minutes. Your car literally wasted 3 hours of your life and you are bragging about it.

I highly doubt you are ever going to convince a dyed in the wool EV’er that their precious technology is anything but efficient.

Just like paying all the environmental costs to manufacture EV, and then paying the carbon costs to convert Dino to electricity, and somehow all that magically becomes good for the environment

You know I wasn't bragging just stating facts.
It was a good thing that the FSD software enable me to do my job versus stand at home in Kentucky.
I had no one that could drive me on this trip.
It is good to have access to vehicle for travel solo.

I look forward to the rare trips where we spend 2 days driving to Oklahoma VS the one 12 hour blast. Last time we went, we had the luxury of free time and stopped half way overnight. It was nice.

Of course that is the earliest they can retrofit their EVs to make cross country road trips using the dependable Tesla Superchargers. Why buy an EV today that you can only use around home?

A: The price of a new EV in the size of vehicle that I want.
B: If I wait for used EVs (we always buy used cars), will the battery last?

I can replace an engine in and ICE for $2500. Can't do that in an EV as of yet.

Yea, the warranty on a Mach E battery is 8 years/100,000 miles. Then what? I have (2) vehicles older than 8 years now. My old F150 would probably be on its 3rd or 4th battery by now if it was an EV. Aftermarket EV battery replacement is going to have to be a thing.

A friend of mine tried to cheap out on batteries for his electric golf cart and got bit. He ended up replacing the replacement batteries. An EV would be that times about 6 or 8 I guess.

I'm with you on that. We are still 6 hours or so from home. I like the low stress trips, too, but they usually end up costing us in hotel rooms. That's why the plug in hybrid is so much better. All the range you need for the fast long trips and the battery has more longevity.

I think with current tech the EV is more like a cell phone... many I know change phones when battery drops capacity...

A lot of our electronics are throw away... maybe cars going same direction?

EV's are like cellphones. Once the battery is done...it's better to just junk it.

Yeah, I change my own cell phone batteries. EV, probably not, but who knows?
