Which fluid for JD300 hydro transmission

The manual calls for "JD all weather hydrostatic" or type F automotive ATF.

What's in there now is reddish looking ATF.

I'm thinking to drain and replace the filter.

I run Valvoline maxlife (red jug) in my Honda and Toyota cars. Can I use that? I do also use low viscosity hygard in my JD4100.

The red is probably ford type F transmission fluid, its what is called for in the 300 series JD tractors.

If it was my JD model 300 industrial tractor it would receive JD Hy-Gard or it's equivalent that meets hyd oil specifications of J20C. JD 300 brake linings don't tolerate incorrect hyd oil spec's or moisture!
