Need to purchase a back blade for my new B3030. Will be used primarily for maintaining ditch along half mile driveway and for snow removal on that driveway. Would like ability to angle, tilt and offset. Tractor is 55" wide. Am considering the Woods RB72. Couple of questions:

1. Is the Woods a good choice?

2. What other make/models should I be considering?

3. Any downside in going with an eight foot versus seven foot blade?

Sorry about the mistake in my message. Meant to say seven versus six foot blade.

Go with a Woods, they are awsome, very well built

I got one and it works great. The seven foot should be fine. You will have a little extra to play with around those ditches and the snow will remove faster.:D

One thing to consider with blade width - it is nice to be able to turn blade around 180 degrees without removing from tractor. I don't know if you can do that with seven-foot blade...

The Woods six footer will swing 180. Handy as a vest pocket too. Can't say about the seven footer. Should be a good match for the 3030 HP rating.

I have a Land Pride RB72 Rear Blade for my B2910 (previous model to B3030). It has hydraulic angle. I looked through the Woods catalog and did not see hydraulic angle on the model you are looking at. Weight of the Land Pride model I have is close to 500 lbs. Weight makes a difference in ability to level a road.

Thanks for the information. Have been pricing the Woods, Landpride and Gearmore 6' rear blades with angle, tilt and offset features. The blades with the approximately 35" offset seem best suited for my application (snow removal and some ditching). Seems that in order to get more than a small (six inch or so) offset you have to step up in price considerably (in the 1K range). Did find a Hawkline model GB72 ADJ with a large offset capability. It is priced at $400.00. Anyone have any experience with this blade?

The only recommendation that I have is that as far as implements go, you usually get what you pay for. Not to say that the $400 blade won't suit your needs, just that the pricier blades are most likely a better quality.

Good luck with the one that you choose.

Depending on what you are planning on using the blade for the Hawkline may be fine. I bought a cheap 72" blade just for moving snow and it does that well. When I tried to use it to work my gravel driveway it was too light and just chattered and didn't work well at all.

Compared to the Landpride the guy down the road has, it's reall cheap, but I already had a box blade for maintaining my drive and just wanted to move some snow faster.

I buy the most durable, HD implements as my machine is used for commercial work. When i buy a 3 point unit it usually comes down to woods and landpride for ground engaging equipment. I like sitrex spreaders and demco sprayers.
