Where to buy a swinging drawbar?

Does anyone know a source for a good heavy swinging drawbar? My 3710 didn't come with one. I bought one at TSC and found it to be junk - bent and then broke within a few weeks of hauling trailer loads of firewood. To haul the trailer I designed and built a hitch that goes on the 3pt, but now I'm getting into haying and I need a swinging drawbar for pulling implements. Any suggestions? Thanks!

That's a tough one, because I think most are made the same...maybe try your dealer. You might pay a premium price for it, but you'll have it quick. I read a thread on this a few days ago, and one was ordered from the net. Let me see if I can find that thread.

I think youre referring to the fixed drawbar. ... fixed in up/down height vs adjustable height like on on the 3pt. The one meant for your tractor should be adequate. Aftermarket general utility items can be a real crap shoot.

Yes, I am referring to the fixed drawbar. I'm hoping to avoid getting the one for the tractor from Kubota because they like to charge lots of money for them As I mentioned, the aftermarket one from TSC was junk, so I'm hoping to find some other aftermarket one that isn't junk. Maybe there is no such thing?

That's the most likely answer. AgriSupply carries them (or used to), but I doubt it's any better quality than TSC. If there's a Kubota boneyard within economical driving distance, a take-off is one possibility. But if you charge yourself by the hour for searching and driving time, I think you'll probably do better just biting the bullet and get one from a dealer.

Stopped by the dealer today. A new drawbar is $145. I said no thank you

Anyone ever made one? I can get steel really cheap in my area. Probably wouldn't cost $10 for a chunk of steel for it. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

Yes. You already saw what happened with the TSC steel. It will cost more than you think to buy the right steel. Probably AR400 wood be good because it is hi strength and surface hardened. After you buy it tho, you then have to cut it and drill it or pay to have it done. It will be very difficult to drill the large holes you need thru that fairly hard steel. You need a slow turning drill press and a big expensive drill bit. Buy the Kubota part unless you are a skilled fabricator. Its guaranteed to work.

Wow, $145 is cheap - all the names like to charge a lot for an item like that.

Unfortunately, you will not find a good one in aftermarket.

Have a look at the junk yards, there are some that specialize in smaller or Kubota tractors, can get a better price on a used one, otherwise back to the dealer.

Have you thought of using a standard straight drawbar between your lift arms?

A lot cheaper and they are quite versatile:tractor:.

I have a Kubota drawbar I could part with, but not sure if that is the one you are looking for. It is a straight piece of steel and it measures 26.5"x2"x1.25". There are 7 or 8 holes in it. If this is what you are looking for send me a PM. It is not the kind that attaches to the 3pt hitch but the one that mounts under the transmission/3pt hitch housing. I believe it is used on the GL models but not sure

Like towing a hay baler? Yes, but only if you ensure the lower lift arm distance from the ground remains well below the level of the PTO shaft. But that can be problematic in hilly terrain. I personally would feel more comfortable with the swinging drawbar like you originally proposed.

I've never owned a tractor without one. How'd yours end up missing?

How did it end up missing? We bought it used, so maybe the previous owner "borrowed" it Not sure, but I do wish I had it now!
