I just bought a new tractor and the first service is due at 50 hrs, and then the manual has the next service and 100 hrs. Does this mean at 100 hrs on meter or 100 hrs after the 50 hr (or any service)?

There are owners will say after 50 hour change than it's 150 hours :confused3: I'd go with what manual showing.

Sorta have the same question. Did the first at 50 hours, initial break in period. But the manual wording is 'every 250 hours' which seems to imply 300 hours on the clock.

Seems like a very short interval for the 2nd service. On most tractors, I think the 2nd one is at 250 hours (200 after the 50).

My manual says at the top of the column "Frequency", and then has 6 rows in the column stating:

Frequency

After first 50 hours

Daily

50 hours

100 hours = engine oil & filter

250 hours

Yearly

How I see it for my MF is after the first 50 hour maintenance, then engine oil & filter is changed every 100 hours.

The first service interval is 50 hours. After that the service interval is 100 hours. Services are due at 50 hours, 150 hours, 250 hours, etc.

Just remember folks, it's your equipment and your money. The manual is written for your equipment to be operated anywhere in the world, by anyone, under any kind of operating and environmental conditions! I saw a picture of my 6530 in S. Korea where a rice farmer had called out the service truck. The tractor had Rice R1s and was up to the belly in muck. No way does my equipment get that kind of punishment.

the recommended service hours is the amount of time you use the machine between services. the first service is typically a shorter interval (hours) due to break-in protocol

We operate a Massey MF1533- circa 2005.. we acquired the machine in a property purchase and it had been sitting for years. We immediately changed the oil and 50 hours later, changed it again. It was under just under 200 hours on the clock at the time.. We then asked about the service interval and the confusion with the manual. The local dealer said - the recommendation is to change based on the indication of hours operated on the meter - not the hours since last change. "Our recommendation is that at that many hours on the meter, do the recommended service."

We put our machine on that schedule and we keep a log so we know when it was last done by date and hours. We have been doing it by the meter. We are at 308 hours at the moment and likely will change the oil today. It's raining again and a good day to do maintenance.

We are light user.. about 100 hours a year.. So yup, every spring we are changing oil..
