Septic here is required every 5 years, luckily my tank is very deep so they put a 24" well casing with lid. No more digging out the tank cover for me.

Oh, most hated job, finishing drywall, followed very closely by painting.

ICurious what tasks others despise (or is it just an old age thing!).

I'm kinda retired myself...but mostly just getting old. I still enjoy and look forward to most tasks, but now that I'm older I hate to work confined or bent over. If I can work standing at a workbench that's much nicer.
Sitting on the tractor seat is nice too. Where I gotta say one more time that getting a tractor that had a canope and backhoe with a thumb were two of the best tool decisions we ever made.

All morning I've been drilling through concrete floor using a hammer drill and 1" drill bit. Several holes so I can put in a 3" PVC section to run water and electric through.
What a horrible job. Resharpen bit every 1/4" or so. Masonry chisel & 5# hammer does nothing. A mask helps some.

A SDS max drill is the best thing that ever happened for drilling holes on concrete. What takes an hour with a little hammer drill takes minutes with an SDS max.

If I had to drill lots of concrete I'd get one.
Hopefully when this is through I won't have to. Nice hammer drill though.

Have 2 hammer drills, smaller dewalt and a bosch SDS max.

I bought an adapter to put SDS bits in my SDS max because I hated the little hammer drill so much. The problem is drilling holes for tapcons is the max hits so much harder that it wallows out the hole and the tapcon won’t take. I’ll probably end up getting a SDS drill to add to the collection.

I bought a brand new Makita 90 degree hole hog at an auction. Never used it much, but sometimes it's just the thing you need. Must watch that your arms don't get torn out of their sockets!

My Dewalt has a clutch that works pretty good but I’ve knocked studs out of a wall bracing a hole hog against them.

Not to suggest more troublesome technology, but an inertia sensor in a high power drill would be nice. Drilling machine twists beyond so many degrees, shut her down!

The Dewalt bind up control works decent. It’ll just fracture your arm vs tearing it completely off.

I have the holes drilled. Yay! It finally occurred to me pouring water down holes made it work better.
I have two DeWalt hammer drills I used...but I believe I fryed them both! Both chucks turn...quit...go again like stripped gears. I'll call DeWalt tomorrow. Even if out of warranty I'd get them fixed. Both got pretty hot and I wasn't using much pressure.

Doing the dishes. Phillips head screws should be banned. Hammer drills with jacobs chucks. Have Makitas in sds and sds max.

I'd rather take a whipping than paint anything!

Or falling through a ceiling. Guy working phone systems (me) stepped wrong and fell backwards through a false ceiling onto the concrete floor 8 feet below. Got up, looked at the office people staring at me with their jaws open, brushed myself off and walked away. I have absolutely NO idea how I didn't get hurt. Not even a bruise or stiff muscle the next day.

I did the same but somehow landed on my feet. The expressions on the guys in the office was priceless.

For some reason, I really enjoy painting. We did our kitchen this spring, painting over old wood paneling. Lots of trim had to be removed/masked. Scrubbed down the walls with TSP substitute. Primed two coats and painted two coats.

The last three nights after work wife and I have been painting our deck by the pool. Just turn on the music and off you go.

You can come visit me any time and stay as long as you like. I'll give you as much painting as you can take.
