My dad worked as a welder for Gardner Denver before I was born until the early 70's. He always told a story of having a shirt with a pocket underneath his welding jacket. He kept getting these warm sensations on his chest and was starting to get concerned that he was having some health issue. He finally took a break and removed his jacket to find his pocket had completely smoldered away. He'll be 89 in about a month.

Welding wouldn't be much fun if you didn't set you self on fire every now and then.:fiery: Brakes the monotony.:cool2::drink:

In a pinch you can just wet down a long sleeve shirt for small jobs it also helps if you are welding laying under a vehicle or whatever your working on take a small blanket and soak it in water to cover yourself!

I literally had a flannel shirt burst into flames on me one day. Pretty exciting.

I can give you a written and notarized lifetime guarantee that your two scenario's will never happen....
That is what checkbooks are for.
Sometimes you have to make time for fishing. :fishing:

Lol I find it easier to get under a piece of equipment and weld than finding a notary that's like at least 1hr away lol

I’ve done enough crawling under equipment in my life. My attitude these days is if it doesn’t fit on the bench, isn’t waist height, or can’t be turned upside down, it really doesn’t need welding or fixing.

my oldest boy is 10 in 3 to 5 years i should be able to stop crawling under or climbing onto things as much lol just like once he hit 3 years old i no longer bend over to pick up dropped tools or parts lol

Wow, gotta love that amazon prime. Mrs.tiller signed up for a month of free amazon prime last week so I ordered the jacket after lunch Saturday and the mailman delivered it to my front door at 10:00 this morning. That's about 45 hours, and over a holiday weekend.

It looks like Magid clothing sizes are pretty accurate. The jacket is plenty big over a t-shirt. I probably could have ordered a 3x and been just as happy.

My wife is Amazon queen and we will be lifetime members of Amazon prime lol we can get 80% of what comes up within a few days otherwise it's a 1.5 hr drive to nearest town with a home depot or Lowe's just plan things ahead a week and always have needed things lol

Been using this one every now and then for several years. Most of the time it’s a t shirt or leather apron for me. I’ve gotten burnt way more times than I’ve put either of these on. I've set my shirts on fire, jackets and also my pants a time or 2. One of the worst burns I've ever gotten was laying on a creeper under a Jeep and a big glob of weld fell off and landed in my belly button, I rolled off the creeper and it rolled down my belly burning me the whole way. The other worse welding incident is getting welding splatter in your ear. That's no fun.

It's called a welding cape. That's what I started with back in welding class in the early 80's. It has sleeves and collar and stops at your chest. No back. Then there's a flat apron piece that snaps on at the chest to cover your belly. Helps a lot in summer or hot indoor areas.

Here's a link to google search images for "welding cape".

I only have the leather apron. No sleeves. Great for doing that little welding job without having to get changed.

Sparks still get into my (institutional, no holes) crocks though. Not something I would wear in public. But great for the farm and welding if you enjoy pain!

After reading the reviews for the Black Stallion I went a different way.

What negative reviews did you find about the BSX jacket? They have a pretty solid 4-5 stars on the Amazon product pages.
