Page 5-2 shows some components on the terminals in question although I don't see the one marked (/) in the first post picture.
I doubt that any additional braking resistor will be needed on this 1.0 HP lathe application. I'm guessing that deceleration rate can be adjusted to make thread die and tap die reversals quick enough. Single point threading up to a shoulder can require a quick stop if the half nut isn't operated for each pass.

Do not hook anything to the dc bus and make sure it is good and discharged before you touch it. Once the charge light goes out your ok to touch

So, you're saying that the terminals shown in post no. 1 are the dc bus?

Yes , ac voltage is marked l1,l2,l3 on incoming and u,v,w on outputs. +,- are tue dc bus.
