Using rear remotes for a grapple

I just haven't been able to use it since it would be bad to do that without an implement hooked up.
You can put a shunt hose (just a single hose that connects from one connection to the other) to practice using the lever. No matter how you move the lever it won't do anything at all, but it also will not damage anything.

Your lever should be spring loaded to neutral. The more you move the lever away from neutral the greater the hydraulic flow. The more flow, the faster the cylinder will move. So you can control the speed by how far you move the lever.

Some valves will have a detent that the lever will stay in position when in detent. That is until the cylinder reaches system pressure then the lever will "kick" out of detent. With detent, you move the lever into detent, let go of it and (depending on direction moved) your grapple will open or close, and lever will kick out (grapple will remain open or grapple will remain closed). My valve has detent and that's how I use it.

Your valve could also have float. Usually in only one direction of the lever. If you push the lever too far the valve enters float. Not useful with a grapple. Sometimes I accidentally move the valve to float and the grapple stops moving. Just pull the lever out of float.

My Kioti DK45HST is also using rear remotes to power grapple. My problem is that the lever will not kick out of the detent position when the grapple reaches full open or full close position. How can I fix this as it appears to put added strain on the tractors hydraulic system when this occurs.

...the lever will not kick out of the detent position...
I believe it's manual... you have to take it out of detent. I know log splitters have that feature but never heard of it on a tractor... (but I'm sure someone else will know of one!!!)

Remove the detent balls. Before my tractor was delivered I ask for and the dealer suggested that they be removed. If you ever need continuous flow (like for a backhoe or wood splitter, that is why they make bungee cords.

Here is how to remove them.

Does your valve have a pressure setting for detent kick out release? An adjusting screw to set the kick out detent release pressure.

Some valves are made with non-adjustable kick out and others with adjustable kick out.

Do you know what kind you have?

They don't kick out, they just burn the pump up. The best thing to do is remove the detent.

I don't know if the valve has a pressure relief on it. I may pull the seat and look. If not I may try and remove the detent balls.

Was your detent valve an option for factory parts or third party valve.

If it is, the manual should show if the detent pressure is adjustable.

The standard detent is a spring and little balls that drop in a groove.

Ok I have removed the detent balls. The grapple works as it should. I think Kioti should come up with a better system for holding the valve open but when I do need to use the wood splitter or a backhoe a bungee cord will work just fine

I agree, there needs to be some Exterior mechanical device that takes two hands to set to hold the lever in what would be the detent position. Think of a wedge hold open device that you push the lever forward with one hand and set the device with the other at the base of the lever. This way there could not be any way you could accidentally set it into detent, which is so easy to do with the stock setup.

Come to think of it, maybe I should design something, sell them and make a fortune. Because the stock setup has burned up a lot of pumps, from people accidentally pushing it forward into detent without realizing it.
