Try the new tractor database

It's well within the capability of ai right now to read a thread and determine what the topic is about, and within our capability to create the system that does that and tags it correctly. With 500k threads, it's a wonderful application of the technology and so far we've found it to be very accurate.

Where we are at right now is we went through a "first pass" to catch the low-hanging fruits of identifying threads for models by the subject line (thread title) content. The next level will be to read the first post as well and identify if a thread title is "problem with steering" and the thread content identifies the make and model. As others have suggested, there's a bit more to the story when you factor in threads that apply to multiple models, such as with attachments or maintenance topics. To answer the question of where comparing tire types go, that would be, for now, in the forums they are in.

We are more likely going to organize the topics by tag with advancements and improvements to our tag pages. For example, tagging all threads about "grading a driveway" and giving users the ability to sort those tag pages by date posted, number of replies, etc.
Please give a heads up when you need the assistance cleanup help in the next phase of this project.

Wow, have you taken on a monumental task!

My knowledge (such as it is) is limited to Massey Ferguson GC series tractors. I did not see a listing for GC1723E (and EB) nor GC1725M (and MB) models. They could easily be lumped together as they are very similar. Likewise, GC1705, GC1710, and GC1715 probably are similar. And GC2300, GC2310, GC2400, and GC2410 probably are similar. Actually, you could probably lump all the GC's in a single grouping.

I also noticed that many models are listed with as MFxxxx, and that may or may not be redundant.

Thanks, and good luck.

Still haven't seen listings for Massey Ferguson GC1723E (and EB) or GC1725M (and MB) models. I'm pretty sure there's a GC1720 model too that's missing.

We haven't made an update to the models yet. There are many models missing in each brand, so we will approach the update one brand at a time. Stay tuned.

@Muhammad I also assist with the legacy Satoh-Mitsubishi machines. Right now, I'm looking at the Satoh-David Brown history connection made machines. Primarily the S350 and S550 with the DST90 engine.

This member uploaded images of the Satoh S500. I can not locate them on TBN.

This is for updating the PDF in the pinned thread here,

@Muhammad Seems Google and StartPage search engines have noticed the database is functional.

I recently had to do an inquiry into a Yanmar FX32D with a locked engine and how to tow the tractor correctly and safely out of a field acres out from a highway.

The search engines dropped me here,
Yanmar FX32D Resource Page

Keep us posted to assist you in the next phase to clean up the database from duplicates or misleading info too.

Maverick, anybody, what is the solution to tow a dead Powershift Yanmar a long distance out of a field - or forest?

The PS internal clutches seem to drag until the engine is turning the PS internal pump. Towing with that drag can't be good for it.

???

OK, will do. Once the winter ends, the time to get involved with a project like this diminishes as we are then outside farming.

We're working on... Have been working on... Still working on... a new tractor database section that will aggregate content by tractor make and model.

The purpose and vision is to organize content, and add more useful content about every tractor that is discussed on TBN.

The database page for each tractor has pulled together:

  • Discussion threads
Each model page will have a sort-able list of the discussion threads related to that tractor.

  • Photos
    Photos of the tractor.

  • Reviews
User reviews with ratings and photos.

  • Owner Pages
TBN members can create "owner pages" for their tractor that will include photos, information, updates, and comments about their tractor.

  • Specifications (future plans but already programmed in)

The easiest way to see how this comes together is by checking out an example page (which has a lot of content, but not owner pages):

You can browse the full list of models by clicking "Database" in the navigation.

You can post reviews, photos, or owner pages by going to the model page for your tractor, or by clicking the "quick owner page" or "quick review" links in the navigation.

Your owner pages are accessible on your public forum profile. Your owner page will list all of your threads about that model, automatically (so long as they are tagged, which is an ongoing process). Owner pages will also show your review of an item, and photos. Members can create multiple owner pages if they own multiple tractors.

We have added 30,000+ threads and 11,000+ reviews (from our old reviews section), plus thousands of photos, to get things started. We will periodically tag all new threads with the appropriate make and model to keep the model pages updated with all related threads. New reviews and owner pages as they get posted will continuously add to the knowledge base for each tractor.

Since this feature is very much a public beta, we expect some bugs and ongoing improvements, and welcome feedback and reports of bugs. You may see some test content here and there, so bear with us while "under construction." Having said that, most features should work.
It's been a year now. The database has not improved.

@Muhammad As winter is getting colder in the north, being shut-in, outdoor activity is now minimal, will this project now re-start?

I'm still available to volunteer. :)

Just saw this thread.

Something similar that would be useful is a thread or database that helps people find manufacturers or brands of various implements and attachments.
