Trick for getting the boots on your BX?

Okay you folks that have replaced the boots on the front steering links... what are your tricks for getting the spring steel retaining ring on the boot? This is pissing me off.

Thanks for sharing but honestly no it doesn't help. I am wrestling with the spiral retaining clip and wondering what tools/technique people use to not damage the boot or my fingers when putting it back on. :confused3:

He actually made it look easy.

Okay so much easier to remove the whole assembly. Might need a tippet wrench (22mm) to get a hold of the steering shaft. I ended up buying a cheap HD (Husky) open ended wrench and used a bench grinder to grind it down to about 3/16in thick. Boots replaced!
