I'm designing a groundnut harvester and I need to calculate for the draught force and the power required for the blade to work efficiently. Is someone having an idea as to how to calculate the draught force using the general soil mechanics equation?

At one time I saw some figures on draft of various tillage tools, but I have no idea where that info is now,

If I was designing it, I would try to fine some type of tool that does much the same (even if it does not pick up nuts) and see what the recommended HP is of that and use that as a design guide,

48" to 54" -- 17 to 25 hp tractor,

so if it would be moving approximately the same dirt as the above box scraper a 48" wide unit would need about 20 hp tractor to pull it,

since I do not know how a nut picker works or what one looks like this is about the best I can do for you,

if it was some thing like these I sure a small tractor could pull a wide swath of them.
