I have purchased a Trac Vac for my JD lawnmower. I bought this unit used and need to extend the 6” hose 4’. Anyone knows of a source for this hose. All the dealers around my area want $10.00 foot for the hose. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
I’m in need of 8 feet or an extension for the 4 foot I already have. An extension will require a coupler. But since I need to support the hose this will not be a problem. I have inculded a picture of the current hose.
Thanks for any help.

Kinda looks like an RV hose. Have any pressue cleaning places near you?

Kinda looks like the corrugated drain pipe stuff. If that's the right diameter, it sure would be cheap.

I have a source for the hose, but it's at home and I'm at work. Not sure of the price. The hose I have used/seen in this type of an application is generally smooth (on the inside) relative to general purpose hose of the same diameter. I think it allows better flow and lessens the chance that grass and debris (especially wet) will build up.

I will either find the hardcopy or a website at home this weekend.

The hose used on Trac-Vacs is corregated on the inside as well as outside. Some Trac-Vacs use 6 inch hose but the the more powerful units use 8 inch. The going rate is around $10 per foot for the 8 inch hose. I don't think you'll find it cheaper anywhere unless someone is going out of business. I find most dealers don't stock hose like this. They special order it to the length you need from a distributor for Trac-Vac products. When I have needed to couple 2 sections of hose as you indicate you will do, I use a section of 8 inch black stovepipe and 2 radiator hose clamps.

Sorry to have to bring bad news about the price of the hose.

The hose has a metal or plastic wire that helps to support the hose. The picture does not show how heavy the hose is very well. I found a product called Sprialflex. It’s $4.16 a foot. I’ll have to check on the shipping cost. Click Here It is the best deal I have found so far. I don’t know if it will work with Trac Vac though.

You didn’t bring all bad news. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Using a section of heavy gauge stove pipe may be the best way to solve the problem. I’ll try looking for some.

Ron,

I bought a length of 6" hose at Weingartz in Farmington Hills a couple of years ago and it was $8-something a foot back then...

Ron,

That looks like what is used for dust collectors. Go to Amazon.com and search for JW1036. Unfortunately, it looks like the only way to buy it is in 10' lengths, so it ends up being more than 4' that you can get locally. However, if you were going to replace all 8' so you don't have connectors, it might work. You could also try:
Grizzly

or

Internation Hose Supply

This place has stuff specifically designed for leaf collection (their "T-7" hose) that's less than 60.00 for 10'. Anyway, good luck.

Institutional/commercial laundry equipment (washers) use hoses similar to that for drains. The place I am familar with purchased theirs from a plumbing supply house, not sure of the cost however... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
