I have a 2018 F150 I sometimes haul my 5000 lb plus tractor with. I bought new 8 ply tires and when they were put on the tire guy said that as long as I had the tire sensor valves that 50 psi was max pressure I could run. The tire company says 50 lb min. for good wear. I have not been able to find any information on what the tire sensor valves pressure range would be has anybody else run into this?

They have sensors for various pressure ranges. Perhaps you need a sensor for the higher ranges. Tires also have various load ranges. There are recommended pressures for each range. You need to be sure you're not putting too much pressure into your tires for their capability. For instance, the manufacturer of my truck may recommend forty pounds for my tires while the tire says it can handle fifty. I'll run at about 44 as a compromise. The tires on my trailer are load range G I believe and they are supposed to run at 115 pounds. Of course they have no sensor. Do a bit more research on you sensor rather than listen to the "tire guy". Few are truly knowledgeable.

Agreed ^
Forget about Joe Blows auto shop, he most likely can't afford the equipment to adjust your settings. Go to your Ford dealer.

That is how I did it with my GMC when I wanted to run 50 psi in the rears rather than 70 psi the manual called for.

There is nothing that says you can't remove the monitors and put in regular tire valves yourself, but why would you want to?
AFAIK, tpms doesn't have anything to do with the valve. There's a sending unit that's strapped to the rim, inside the pressurized part of the tire.

Not according to somebody who seems to know. The type you are referring seems to be an old no longer used system on most cars.
Do an Amazon search for tire pressure monitor and see what you find.

Because when I bought snow tires , I also bought a second set of rims for them. Now I just switch wheels and rims over myself instead of a tire shop swapping tires and rims. So half the time I don't have sensors. Jon

I did the same, but my local tire shop only charges $35 to swap them. I had them do it because I was still doing the move and couldn't find my impact wrench and torque wrench but at that price I will probably have them swap them back in the Spring

Put 55 PSI in the tires then check the display in the truck. If it only reads 50 then maybe the tire monkey was correct. If it reads whatever you choose to run then forget the tire monkey. But kindly report results here.

2008 F-250 tires run default 65 PSI with in-tire TPMS. Guessing 2018 F-250 uses same TPMS as the F-150. I'll leave verification as an exercise for the reader.

Autel MX clonable retrofit TPMS is speced to 116 PSI. The Autel sensors support most all TPMS protocols so this only says the protocol Ford uses might report pressures up to 116 PSI.
