Three point valve broken!!!

/ Three point valve broken!!! #131
I was searching my work computer for a file and came across this that i forgot i even had. This may have helped you out Indirocz, had i found it sooner!!

Great find digging, haha! One of you posted the same thing a few pages back, and so I have it printed out.
Maybe Ken posted it. I don’t remember anymore, but thank you to everyone for your time and help.

I ordered that dipstick fill adapter from HOYE, it finally came in yesterday.
Just a bit ago I picked up the rest of the hydro fittings I need to use PBY and a hose to run over to the fill port for the loader out return.

Just an update, finally was able to get the power beyond hooked up and that stupid fill adapter put in that Hoye never mentions with their “add a loader” kit.

Everything is working fine now.

Thank you everyone so much for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

That's good to hear!!

Did you get your original setup working or did your get used parts from Hoye to put it back together?

good to hear you got it working. I think most loaders are just routed through the inlet loader valve and power the 3pt on the outlet of the valve.

I believe here was a guy that use to post in the HYD. section that gave me the idea of using pb to power the 3 pt and all has worked well since. Well, until the 3pt decided to fall from time to time. But with the issues you guys are having with that control valve, I think I'll just deal with the 3 pt issue

Still using original parts.
It’s not perfect but works well enough now.

Aaron said he doesn’t have the linkage I need.

I realize a lot of older ones may be plumbed that way. However the problem I was having of back pressure pushing back into the loader control valve when the 3pt was up has now been solved by allowing the PBY to power it. There is still some drop in the box blade when operating the loader, but not nearly as much as before using PBY, and no leakage back through the loader valve.

I wish Hoye would have said “it is recommended” to do it that way in the first place, and didn’t “hide” that fill adapter in the dark corner of their website. Haha.

Oh well, all is working now.

This little tractor has got a lot of work to do to make up for itself.

I believe Fredricks still plumbs their tractor loaders this way. They installed my loader a few yrs ago and plumbed it that way. I changed it, about the same time I added the valve for the grapple / thumb I added

Hoye must have had those filler adapters made. I don't think they had them when I made my return port.
I had what appeared to be an inspection plate just behind my shifter. I used this plate and welded a short threaded nipple and piped it up instead of using a hyd hose.

The YM240 owner's manual shows that way, the simple series method and not PBY, as how to add a loader. There's lots of advice online saying this is wrong and will put excessive backpressure on the loader valve, eventually damaging it. Could be. My loader valve (third-party, not Yanmar) original from 1980 was dribbly when lifting maximum weight so I replaced it.

I saw a post somewhere saying a Kubota dealer stopped using the series method when they identified that as the cause for warranty repairs a few years after installation.

Apparently series plumbing is generally 'good enough' for casual use while PBY is preferable for a loader in continuous commercial use.

In all fairness I believe a solid 95% or more of the Yanmars are plumbed the way we describe in our instructions. This is the first time I have heard of it causing a problem in almost 20 years. I suspect your loader valve was leaking due to the original TPH linkage problem which caused long term back-pressure (you said the only way your three point would stay up was by leaving the TPH valve in the lifting/relief position). That is just my theory but your situation is pretty unique and I don't think the loader plumbing was to blame.

Hoye must have had those filler adapters made.
Yes, we had those made by a local machine shop a few years ago.
