Thread Sealing Tape?

I have used teflon tape on hydraulic fittings for over 30 years and have never had a problem , I do a neat job or try to and have had zero issues.

I'm not one to say teflon tape is bad... but I worked for Teleck who is now Terex. They switched to dope after finding tape in spool valves.

For fuel or oil application on pipe threads I use a dab of Permatex Aviation Form A Gasket.

Teflon tape won't cause any problems if the person applies it PROPERLY. I've used it in automotive in many applications for about 50 years now and have never had a problem whereas I've seen guys apply it IMPROPERLY and cause the mentioned problems.

Yes Teflon tape can be used successfully, but it also can cause serious issues.
In most manufacturing plants, a Japanese manufacturing practice called Polk-yoke is commonly used when setting up standard manufacturing processes. Polk-yoke is simply designing a process so that the operator can't do it wrong. IE: it only goes together one way, all the screws are the same size, etc...

Polk-yoke your assembly and don't use Teflon tape, use a product designed for the application to make sure you don't have problems.
