Were you only here for the Covid-19 discussions?

As @MikePA said, I made the decision to ban covid-19 discussions because this is a tractor site, not a general news site, or a politics site. That and we tried allowing the covid-19 discussions but it didn't work out. The topics consistently drifted into politics and those needed to be deleted and members were getting banned and everybody was unhappy.
You really need to upgrade your avitar picture. That one is from 20 years ago...lol

Thanks for bringing this up, you are correct. It’s un American and unholy to stifle free speech. A forum is place where people speak. The reason you can have a damn forum is because our founders fought for your right to say anything, political, religious or otherwise. (Not including obviously illegal speech)

It is highly offensive to the human spirit (given to us by God himself) to make it your business to silence others.

We moved to a smaller place, sold the tractor :(.
Something I should do as well but like Richard, I ignore my age and keep on farming. If I sold out, I could probably move to someplace warm all year and call it good. Guess I just like the smell of fresh turned ground and diesel smoke.

Of the eleven things banned, I regularly see seven. Other members can do their own math.

The problem is how punishment is dealt.

If I violate, punish me, if that includes deleting my post send me a PM outlining my violation and the consequences. If that includes banning me for a time, again explain to me why.

And I'm even in favor of public declaration of the violation I committed and the punishment executed. As others have said, we are all big boys.

Just distribute control and punishment fairly. And do it openly. That's all any of us is asking.

Lastly, I thank God for the ability to sit here and type this post!!! Is that a violation?
Some of these rules are definitely subjective.

-Insulting other members

-Arguing with other members, heated and unreasonable debate, "beating a dead horse" without any sign of rational thought process

-Signature contains profanity, commercial links (unless an advertiser), inappropriate content, links to inappropriate content or content that appears to be there just to cause trouble.

-Discussion of political topics (so discussing a recently passed bill on its merits is bad?)

-Discussion of covid-19 related topics (Should have an Off-topics thread where anything goes. ;o) )

-Impolitely criticizing moderators, admins or site policies

Free speech applies to the government not telling you what you can say. When you come onto private property, the owner can establish the rules or tell you to leave their property. You have every right in the US to express your opinions in a public place. This forum is a private place and the owner has the right to establish rules for your free use of their site.
