I don’t disagree with the political stuff and wish people could talk about issues they are facing without that drift. I did gain some good information from a few of the Covid threads and Certainly think people like Eddie that was facing Covid should be able to reach out for guidance and information.

I joined to discuss tractors and enjoy doing so. But in the process I have met some really good people that I am honored to call them friends. Friends like to talk about issues they are having with one another and that should be encouraged. The closer people become the more inviting it is for others to participate.

James often brought great insight and guidance for many people having issues with their tractors. He certainly was here to talk tractors and personally I will miss his post.

This will be my last post on TBN.
Sorry to see you go, James.

You have been generous with sharing your detailed expertise on many subjects. I have read many of your extremely detailed posts written in response to complex questions and subjects.

Few have your knowledge set, and few of those would share it with others as you have. You will be missed.

Umm. You are making my point. Covid is a science issue, but people stupidly make it a political issue.
Employers with 100 people or more were told they will be vaccinated for Covid or your company will be punished. Which "science" was that? Then the Supreme Court, a non political entity said you can't enforce that. Which "science" was that?

See how easy it is to cross lines.

Easy now Steppy, I'm actually on your side in this discussion...
How is that??? You owe MC an apology. None of this is Libs herding conservatives. You just want to make it that. And if this forum is that baseless, where I have a voice and you don't, then I wouldn't choose to be here either.

Internet forums, and the "fit" of any given person, are kinda like those "venn diagrams", where hopefully you fit in that little triangle in the middle of all three circles - except that the circles move around. So what might have been a fit when you began, or even you fit, but were only in two of the circles, can change. And that's okay! It's unfortunate that any contributor would choose to leave, particularly a valued one, but people's interests and opinions can vary over time (one circle), the circumstances of our world can change (another circle) and the theme of the forums, and moderation can change (the third circle). Occasionally the result is that you're not in two of the circles any more. The best thing is to realize it, and either move with a circle, or step back from two of them, neither is wrong - it's a personal thing. Honestly, there are topics on this forum I would not even open, they potentially offend me. But that's my problem, not that of the forum, or members. Happily, I'm here to talk about tractors, and that's going well, so the peripheral topics are unimportant to me anyway - I wouldn't touch them on the aviation forums either!

I'm a moderator on two aviation forums, each with surprisingly different guidance from administration about what's acceptable, and what's not. But the basic fact is that the forums are someone's "place" and we are guests. Hopefully the member who has announced their departure has inspired members with a sense of tractor community, and that will carry on as a positive! We won't celebrate a loss of a member, but we can still celebrate their contribution and value!

An apology for what? James didn't leave because he couldn't say the word "Covid". I don't want to make this anything. You always have a voice. And if it's banned you'll come back as someone else.

Again, I'm on your side here.

And what does that have to do with tractors? See why this is banned?

The issue is that this is a forum to discuss tractors and rural living, not politics. And today most Covid discussions devolve into political discussions. I’m glad the the site owners have squelched political discussion on this site. It ends up destroying what we are here for. And it would be helpful to define “censorship.” That term applies to a government infringement on free speech. It doesn’t apply to private owners establishing rules for the use of their property, forums, etc… When you join a private site that is offering a free forum, you must abide by the rules established by the owner. You are free to stand on public property and peacefully express your opinions all you want; we are not being censored.
And here you are, discussing politics. No one makes any member read or post on any thread. Discussions on COVID-19 without blaming politicians can be quite beneficial.

Meanwhile back at the ranch ...

k0ua, sorry to see you go. I've learned things from your posts over the years.

I wish all of us could discuss issues of general interest in a manner that doesn't deepen divisions.
