Lots of sleet here. About an inch of ice on the ground. You could actually get traction in it at 5am when i walked the dog. But just went out and now it's just a solid sheet.

Thankfully the freezing rain bypassed us, so less chances of power outages.

Boss called a late opening at 9am. Then just closed us down for today. So I got me a free day off.

Time to put the pj's back on and stretch out on the couch with the pooch.

Starting to ice up around here, power lines across the street are covered with ice. Generator and plenty of fuel and firewood on hand.

I think I have got more snow since it started in again this morning than I got yesterday. Could still see the grass yesterday in the wind blow areas. now have about 3-4 inches and coming down.

Not much ice here. About a foot of snow though.

Hello fellow Hoosier. Here in SE Indiana we've gotten 1/4" freezing rain topped by 2" of sleet. Today they are predicting 8" of snow on top of the sleet! Saturday morning the predicted temperature is -3F. Clearing our hilly 1000' gravel lane is going to be a challenge! ☃️ However, our 4WD JD4300 with front blade should be able to handle it. I put chains on all 4 tires which will convert the 4300 into a mini high traction bulldozer!

TIP: feed your birds some unsalted in-the-shell peanuts ... the Cardinals, Bluejays and Chickadees LOVE those. 🐦

Down to 33 here with a ton of rain so far.
The birds here like dog food. I could swear the cardinals are barking now.
They were emptying the dog bowl really fast but the dog started using her nose to cover her bowl with straw.

Pretty well stopped here. Maybe a little dusting later on. Everything froze solid once the sun went down. Gonna have to borrow my wifes ice cleats to walk the pooch later.

Mostly a miss. Definitely a mess out there and not fit for driving. No mail run yesterday and I don't expect one today. Lots of narrow, winding, hilly roads with no shoulders and steep drop offs, so it really isn't safe to drive.

But no where near the disaster they made it sound like it might be. Power stayed on for example. No mass of fallen trees blocking roads for miles.

Cold today and tomorrow, then a warmup that should clear the roads before it gets cold again.

Probably two to three inches on the driveway, but with ice underneath I won't even be attempting to clear it.

We got rain yesterday, then just as I headed out for beer and bread it turned to snow. (Actually I was headed to get my mail, but that didn't sound as good. :D )

They said 8-11 inches last night, and as much again today. As of noontime we've gotten the first 8", and unless another storm is coming through I doubt that we'll get more than a few inches more.

It looks like I've been fooled again...

Our weatherman Chris ”Your All Gonna Die” Bailey has once again cried wolf.
But its good for the economy. Generators, propane tanks gone.

I swear the weather people are in cahoots with the grocery, hardware, gas stations etc. just to whip folks into a stock up frenzy before any type of storm.

Meh. We got 11.2" here. 4th snowiest one day total in February. 24th overall. So certainly not nothing, but we are prepared for it here. We generally get 70 inches of snow a winter so we have equipment.

I always test the generator and snow blower in October so I know they are ready or I have time to get them repaired. Then I run the generator quarterly to make sure all is good. We are more likely to have power outage in the spring with severe weather/tornados.

I used to do the same with my generator, including replacing the previous year's gas with fresh fuel. After a few years I got out of the habit though. The last time I tried to start it to run my skil saw- back in 2018- I pulled the cord out and still haven't gotten around to replacing it. I've been here since 2003 and the power has only been out once for more than a few hours... I happened to be spending the winter elsewhere so didn't even report it out for two weeks, giving them a chance to service people who needed power.

so I got about 12 inches (2 feet of drifts) of stuff on top of the 14 inches I got on last Sunday.
basically average crap.
due for little freezing rain soon.
leaving 2 inches snow on private road and multiple driveways right now so tomorrow when I clean up rain will be off gravel.
again...average for me.
been doing this crap for 43+ years. tried to get out of it this year.
it keeps pulling me in LOL

I just measured 9 inches here and it's about done snowing. So much for the 16-22" they were teasing us with.

so I got about 12 inches (2 feet of drifts) of stuff on top of the 14 inches I got on last Sunday.
The storms seem to be following the coast this year. Points north and west where they depend on snow for skiing and sledding aren't getting it the way they would like to see it.

And eggs.... we NEED french toast during emergenices!
I like to do my grocery shopping on Tuesdays. Went to Martin's on Mayflower. Parking lot was full. All checkouts open. 3-4 people deep. I get a loaf of bread, 2 dozen eggs, kale and collards (not for me, for the Russian tortoise), and 2 gallons of milk almost every week. Went to the milk cooler. Guy in the back was loading them in as fast as people were taking them out. Said it had been like that for 3 hours.

We got about 10-11 inches total. I didn't bother plowing. Just drove my Suburban up and down the drive 5-6 times and shoveled the porch steps and short sidewalk.

You ever try peanut butter french toast?
Peanut butter is an emergency staple. It's been so long since I've had an emergency that I threw 2 jars out this fall.
