Exactly she is smart, she knows what she is doing and that is taking advantage of you. That's fine if your fine with it but your not because you are complaining about it so rectify the expectation or at the very minimum voice your frustration to her.

There is a difference between being there for her and being taking advantage of. If the trip was previously planned and paid for is one thing if she is escaping the weather and expect you to take care of everything is a other... but above sound like a whole lot of expectation.

Everyone has opinions on how someone else should raise there kids. I'm with RSKY though. While he's "complaining" I suspect he would be more disappointed if he wasn't the go to person. They aren't coming around asking for money. I enjoy the relationship I have with my kids and grandkids. I think my grandkids believe I can build or fix anything. I am happy they feel welcome to drop in whenever they want. I enjoy having a place in their lives. I barely knew my grandparents. My kids had a limited relationship with their grandparents.
What I can tell you is burying a child is the hardest thing you will ever do on this earth. That leaves a hole that you can't close. That I would wish on no one.

This trip has been planned for a long time. They are meeting another couple at Disney who have a daughter that is best friends with my 12-year old granddaughter. Had a FaceTime call from them this morning 9-year old grandson said he and his sister rode Expedition Everest five times in a row. I guess I really cannot complain too much. Both daughters try to take care of their ancient dad as much as they can. Both son in laws will drop whatever they are doing and come help me if possible. I am just upset that they didn't have the switch installed.

This trip has been planned for a long time. They are meeting another couple at Disney who have a daughter that is best friends with my 12-year old granddaughter. Had a FaceTime call from them this morning 9-year old grandson said he and his sister rode Expedition Everest five times in a row. I guess I really cannot complain too much. Both daughters try to take care of their ancient dad as much as they can. Both son in laws will drop whatever they are doing and come help me if possible. That makes more sense, I am glad to hear they also take care of you... I am sorry for my blunt comments, I hate when ''kids'' take advantage of their parents I have seen it way too often. I also hop the storm is not too bad in order to make your life easier.

Grands do take advantage. Both daughters have a lot of their groceries delivered so if one of the grands goes with me to Walmart of a grocery store I usually end up buying a lot of stuff for them. A LOT of stuff.

One likes frog legs. So she and I go eat frog legs.

One likes McRib sandwiches. So he and I go get McRibs.

And so on.

She is sixteen. When she was about five I told her they were skinny chicken legs and she ate half what was on my plate. Didn't bother her when I told her what they were. She has her preferences but will try something new. Her little sister is a chicken nugget, macaroni and cheese, and French fry eater. Those two belong to my oldest. The youngest daughter's three will eat anything that doesn't try to crawl off the plate away from them. We were on Dauphin Island last year and I told them I would get them all the crab legs they could eat and they damn near broke me. Grilled oysters and any other kind of seafood just disappears around them. The baby, 2-1/2, is gonna be like that too. Though her favorite is ham, even salted cured ham, and rice cooked any way you can cook it.

Where, in our "nowhere" could you find frog legs???? I cant find any decent restaurant over here. Just curious...

Try the "Pond" in Aurora KY. They usually have the best and not too high priced. Also "Strickland's Seafood" in Paducah KY. I think we got four large pairs each the last time and by the time I was on my third she was finished. And eyeing what was on my plate. Also the 'Catfish House" in Pryorsburg KY has them. They also serve Bluegill on Thursdays.

There is also a place in Paducah called the "Freighhouse" which is in a different class of place to eat. I believe they have had them but it is rare that they do. They serve nothing there that has been frozen. So they don't have salmon or anything like that. The chef has certain commercial fishermen who bring her carp that she prepares and I am told it is delicious but I've not tried it yet. They also have caviar that comes from a local who fishes for sturgeon. I didn't know that fish was even in KY waters but there was a whole local TV show about how the guy caught and prepared the stuff.

When I was in my teens a few of my friends and I would spend from sundown until late shooting and spearing frogs. Then we would take them to a local bootlegger (dry county) in town and trade them for beer.

I used to gig all of my frogs for frog legs but don't do that any longer. I order mine from a place in Louisiana. Creole Foods or Louisiana Crawfish. One or the other. Really nice frog legs.

He thought it was funny and said of course. So I got the call and was there in ten/fifteen minutes. It doesn't matter how old they get, how many kids they have, if there is trouble they know that the one person who will never not help is their "daddy"! Even if their husband would wade thru burning gasoline and fight a tiger to save them their dad would be right behind him.

The local volunteer fire department was operating at a car crash near where she had the blowout which was probably caused by debris in the road from the crash. When they saw the heavily pregnant woman and two kids with a flat they jumped in and started changing the tire before her husband got there. Then two or three of them kinda set up a perimeter around her vehicle and guarded it until we all arrived. They all probably went home and told their wives and families how they had saved the pregnant woman.

There are lots of roadside deaths due to inattentive drivers. Having a safety perimeter is wonderful, as is an upstream vehicle. If at all possible, I would rather drive to an exit or parking lot to get completely out of traffic.
