I would have never figured on fines for firewood for crossing international boarders. You are so knowledgeable in international affairs, but then you do work closely with the airlines.
Don,
Texas also is asking to not transport firewood when traveling, then camping. The state encourages local procurement of firewood. Also..........I work for an airline, not closely with them. The luv culture has left the building.

That's the ticket! Send them by air!
:laughing::laughing::laughing:
Since they are combustible...........I guess they would be labeled HAZMAT.:confused3: I think it would be cheaper to make a raft and float them up to you.:shipcaptain:

Yep, not as much fun to fly SWA as it used to be.

In Michigan there are fines for taking firewood across county lines. Don, want me to bring you some MI. firewood this year? It will be full of box elder bugs, tip blights, Bronze Birch Borers, Dutch elm disease and many more.

Nah, we have enough wood, diseases, and pest. If you put a piece of aged mesquite to your ear you can hear munching.

Just google SWA and labor contracts for a glimpse.
Flying any airline is not fun like it used to be. The glamour days of aviation had passengers dressing up to fly and getting first class service.

Yep, back in 70's, 80's, 90's I always wore a suit and tie when traveling, on business, to Europe, Asia, S. America. Always flew first class, now business, almost all dressed that way.

Now it's jeans and casual shirt. Kinda miss the old days .... a bit.

Brandi, SWA was great back in those days. They had $45 fares from Houston to Dallas, San Antonio, New Orleans, etc. We used to decide, on a moments notice, to fly to New Orleans, on late Friday afternoon for dinner and partying on Bourbon St., then catch a late Saturday morning flight back to Houston. Those were the days of Herb!

And getting through the imitation security is a mess. I've flown all over the country in days past, and thoroughly enjoyed flying, but I haven't been on an airplane since 1986. And I've told my family that I can't even imagine an emergency serious enough to get me to fly a commercial flight again.

Sadly, the days of Herb and Colleen's corporate culture is gone.

My first jet flight, was with SWA, and it was a $19 one way ticket from HOU to Dallas. Mom and Dad were up there at the Dallas Furniture Market.

I flew up for a weekend of good food paid for by the manufacturers. One night all the seafood I could eat. The next night ribeyes with all the trimmings!

Bird,
I have flown, since 911, less than a handful of times..........and I can fly free. I don't care for the lines and the gobs of people.

Don't forget TTA Trans Texas Airlines or, as we called it, Tree Top Airways.

I remember Braniff, TWA, Pan Am....Even Metro Airlines. :)

Kyle, we used to have a home near Sugar Land and it was very convenient to take a Metro flight from Hull Field to IAH to catch international flights. But, 3 times in a row, I tried to take the Metro fight from IAH back to Hull late evenings only to take off, find out that Hull was fogged in. Returned to IAH and had to take an expensive taxi home after farting around for an extra hour or more. Not something you want to do after a 16 hour flight home. We did get 500 FF miles each way though.

He had a nice little storm camp out over the top of us this morning.

3.75" in about an hour does fun things to our road. This is the greenest it has been this time of year in many years.

Yep Y'all, I follow your TSST thread even though I'm a Kansan. And "Yep", I've flown all over the US of A during the golden age of the passenger air line industry ( the 60's). Even flew on your "TTA" airline thru Texas and Louisiana. Haven't been on a plane since the nineties and don't have a reason to nowadays. I did get a bag of peanuts on the Southwest line then.
