I think we got 8-10" here south of Bastrop but it dried out pretty fast, but we have really sandy soil. Pond is full:

Cypress (our main home), well that's quite the mess. No water in our house, thankfully. We got 14-15".

In my 9th and 10 grade years, we lived ON the south side of Cypress Creek. About two miles west of Stubner-Airline. Great place to grow up................until we had to pull the carpets up and float our clothes out in a rubber raft not once, but twice before we moved. Back then we were really out in the sticks. Most fun and painful time of my teen age years. We actually had 63 feet creek frontage. Now, on the north side across the creek is Klein's soccer parks and Cypresswood Dr..............which was made infamous this week as a waterway on national news.
Good times and sad times.
hugs, Brandi

Jim,
That is pretty awesome. Did you plant anything else for after it gets to hot for the rye?
hugs, Brandi

That's next on my to do list, just gotta figure out what. I will probably end up sprigging it once I get over there but I really haven't decided.

Yesterday was gorgeous and today is supposed to be just like it. However, it appears North Texas is supposed to have two more evenings of potential severe weather Tuesday and Wednesday. Lake Lavon is over full, again. And the State Farm guy who lost his last company van to Wylie's last episode of severe weather was at our house again yesterday for another four hours. He tossed the original storm's estimate of damage and added an additional $5,000.00 for more severe damage. That saved us having to pay two deductibles, a lot of insurance companies are hitting homeowners up for the two deductibles. It's up to almost $18,000.00 now. Hartford just deposited almost $1,900.00 for damages to Lucy (old timers know Lucy).

I've heard autos and trucks older than 2011 are automatically totaled. I was told yesterday that someone saw on the telly that 10,000 automobiles in Wylie were totaled between the two storms.

My yard was in dire need of mowing, but it's just been too wet. But this morning, I mowed, edged, and trimmed anyway.

I hope Lucy is not being totaled.
Lucy wasn't totaled. It is a big topic here locally though, some of the old people like their cars and understand that replacing one is very hard to do economically.

Just want to throw this out in case anyone might be aware of some info:

INFORMATION SOUGHT IN EAST TEXAS SKID STEER THEFT
TSCRA Special Ranger Jimmy Dickson and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office are seeking information on the theft of a skid steer worth approximately $45,000 from Kiepersol Enterprises in the East Texas town of Bullard.

According to Dickson, the theft occurred between April 1 and April 4, when a thief or thieves stole a yellow and black 2004 model Case 95XT skid steer loader with dual hydraulic clamps on the front bucket. The serial number on this equipment is JAF0386335. The skid steer is a 4-wheel-drive and had approximately 34 hours on the hour gauge at the time of the theft.

Dickson said the machine was on a construction site on the property of Kiepersol Enterprises, south of CR 3801 in Bullard. The machine was apparently loaded on a trailer and stolen from the site.

Anyone with further information regarding this theft case should contact TSCRA’s Operation Cow Thief hotline at 888-830-2333 or call Dickson at 903-721-2155. A cash reward may be paid to individuals who can provide useful information leading to the arrest and indictment of suspect(s). Individuals reporting information may choose to remain anonymous.

Makes me sick. I want to set up a sting operation with my tractor and trailer to give the LEOs something to work with. Hope they find it in good shape. I wonder if the hour meter had spun and it was actually 1034 or 2034, etc? Really no difference either way.

Round Two!

Nice to hear that lake Travis is finally full again... Perhaps that spillway will get some exercise this week. Lord knows Lake Conroe and Livingston dams are huffing and puffing nicely. I'll take it now, and would love to see this in June/July/August too.

When was the last time that lake Travis was full? It seems like it's been low for a decade now?

I believe that the summer of 2007 was the last time they opened the spillway... That's a looong time.
