Texas Spring/Summer Thread

Saw something I've never seen before. 4 large flocks of white wing doves flying over my head at tree top level. Guessing around 500 birds. It was a beautiful sight when in unison they flew around my location, showing their "stripes". Apparently, they must've been in the recently harvested cornfield just east of me 2 hundred yards. There were a bunch of grackle blackbirds chasing them away. Fighting over the leftover corn?

It was great to see so many dove. They used to be quite low in number that the state limited your bag limit of white wings. Not sure about limits this year.

About 0545 started to see some lightning to the North. 0600 started to hear some thunder and now we're getting light rain. This is a little surprising this early the predictions were for later in the day. On the radar it looks like a pretty good front moving in from Sulphur Springs HEHAWWWWWWW!!!

Good for you Lou. We ended up with a surprising 1.7 inches of much needed rain and some cooler temps. Doesn't look like we have much of a chance for more till next week, but we'll keep praying and maybe a little dancing.

I noticed all my barn swallows have already gone south for the winter. I also don't see any driving under underpasses on the way to work. Makes me wonder if the predictions for a long cold winter are going to come true.

I always love watching kids play ball, and I don't care if it's football or baseball.
My youngest is inthe 8th grade and playing on the football team as a receiver.

Was over at my second oldest son house on Sunday,, BBq, fish fry and shrimp boil.. We do it all,, large family,, anyway one of the grandkids had some music on.. lot of the family was up swaying to the music,, I had about two beers to many for dancing,, I was more stepping on my own feet.. One of the grandsons ask me,, What kind of dance is that papaw?.. I said the Rain dance,, mistake,, has not stop raining,, to those naysayers,, I am living proof.. it works.. smile,, hoping it heads up north where it is really needed now.. Lou

lou, all my dance produced was a root cannel, which produced tears so I had to stop - the results were not worth the effort.
